The Drone Controller states that Gun, Marker and Sniper drones in the bearer's unit may use the bearer's BS.

It therefore seems correct that a unit of Heavy Gun Drones joined by a Commander with a Drone Controller could fire using his BS of 5.

Just because it had Gun Drone in the name doesn't mean it works on Heavy Gun Drones

So where in that list was Heavy Gun Drone?

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

Disagree,
Model: Gun Drone
Model: Heavy Gun Drone
Two different named Models, so they do not benefit.

Besides, one of these Models has been produced by Forge World while the Rule in question was produced by Citadel. While it would make all kinds of sense for all of Game Workshop's subsidiaries to work together, at the very least to write Rules that acknowledge each others existences, we are talking about Game Workshop here. We are unlikely to ever find a piece of Wargear or a Special Rule within a Codex that directly refers to a Model produced within the Forgeworld line of products. The most we will likely see from Forgeworld are instructions on how armies select their Units, and reminders to look into a Codex for certain Rules shared by their Models and those produced by Citadel.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Are the HGD's even still available? DC's used to work with them. Wonder if they work in Drone networks?

Why would Heavy Gun Drones, which where always produced by Forgeworld, not be available?

Forge World has been know to have products go OOP.

Oooh, available as in the plastic bits still being sold by Forgeworld directly... can't say, have to look on their site to see.
I read available as in 'are they still available to be selected as part of a Tau Army'

Page 55 of Tau only includes gun, marker, and shield nowhere does it say sniper drones. But snipers can use them they are not on page 55. What I believe drone is referring to is Unit Type: Jet Pack Infantry (Drone). In which case then yes heavy drones can use drone controllers. As all the drones have this special rule they are simply not on the table on page 33 because the 2nd ed rules were made after the codex was released.

You're looking at the rules for Drone Squadrons and not the Drone Controller which is on page 68 of the previous codex and does include Sniper Drones.
