Hey there. I want to get my friend something for his Imperial Guard army for the holidays. Problem is, I don't really know what to get him that he would probably use as I've never played IG. So I'm hoping some of you guys can help me find a gift that would help him out.

His models so far are:
Spoiler:
CCS
Lord Commisar
30 Veterans with various weapons
40 Platoon infantry
Platoon Command Squad
5 Chimeras
6 Snipers
6 Heavy Weapon Teams
3 Sentinels
2 Rapier Batteries
1 Valkyrie

His general tactic is to put the HWT & snipers behind an ADL. The Vets are in chimeras and the Lord Commisar gets attached to the platoon blob to march forward. Some Tanks probably wouldn't go amiss or artillery I would Imagine, but I'm not sure what ones would be good for his play style. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I second this. The Wyvern is one of the better pieces of kit available to the IG.

If you are on a tighter budget, look at the Regimental advisors, who are not quite as useful, but really nice models.

I'll look into those! The other friend we play with has a tyranid horde army, so that will def. be something he would use!

He actually proxies the Regimental advisors with some DnD minis right now. Though last game his Master of Ordinance blew himself up (The motto for his Regiment is "Danger Close").

I'll def. look into the Wyvern too. Thanks!

Haha, while I'm sure they are fun, he likes playing the normal dudes fighting against impossible odds.

So I'm reading he doesn't have a single Leman Russ variant...pretty sure that's heresy.

Get that man some Leman Russes, a Guard army without Russes is heresy of the highest order. Even those Renegade guardsmen use Russes

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

He has no Leman Russ tanks?
Help him with his problem. Purchase a Russ or three for him.
Either that or I shall be forced to contact the commissoriat....

Haha! My wife actually plays Necrons. I don't need another girlfriend with an army to kick my ass.

Okay so Leman Russes. What kind should I look into? Don't they have a bunch of variants?

Elysians are heretical?

I don't use any vehicles that would be unwieldy to deploy in vast expanses of forest.

I recommend you get him some Russes if he likes them, but judging by his ig collection he isn't a fan.

A wyvern would do very well.

There are only two Russ kits: The regular which contains parts for the LRBT, the Readicator, the Exterminator and the Vanquisher and the Demolisher which allows you to build the Demolisher, the Punisher and the Executioner.

The meta being what it is, the codex being how its at and the game taking its chosen route I would advise getting him some of the regular LRBT boxes.
The other three in the Demolisher box suffer from being too expensive for what they do.

If he plays behind an ADL, look into the Wall of Martyrs bunker.
It can hold 20 people, and lets 8 fire out. Only 1 unit, though.
It's an AV14 building, so protects the occupants from almost any fire until it's damaged.
There's space on the roof for the snipers, and it's high up than an ADL, for better LOS.

The rules are in the Stronghold Assault book though, so see if you can find that beforehand.
