So since the last thread was pretty much ignored I figured I'd take another crack at it to try to get some advice. I've recently made some plans to eventually add some Dark Eldar to my up and coming Eldar force (Iybraesil themed) and I was wondering if anyone had much experience with that that they could share? I wanted to make the DE force Wych Cult themed to go along with the Iybraesil theme that I had in my main force. This would mostly be for casual/fun games.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Well, even in casual games you'll struggle tomake wyches work. They are, no holds barred, among the worst units Iin the entire game.

So, if you want to go Wych themed, the best way to do it is: as few wyches and as many Reaver jetbikes as possible.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

It's unfortunate they lost haywire, but I still believe they can be useful. A 4++ is great for holding up scary units in combat combined with a lot of high initiative attacks makes them good at munching through hordes. Personally I wouldn't do anything but hydra gauntlets and then equip the Succubus with haywire (she can still take them right?). If all else fails you get to laugh at grav spam like every other poorly armoured unit!

Or you could always try and bring back beast stars, if memory serves correctly all of your beastmasters can get agonizers!

A Wytch can't compete pound for pound with practically any cc unit in the game. For 10 points they are laughably overcosted in the era of overwatch.

A 10 man tactical squad takes out four wytches...in overwatch. A 10 man squad of wytches charging a 10 man squad of guardsmen with a flamer loses 3 - over half the cost of the guardsman squad - just to overwatch, then another one in the ensuing combat. Forget Venom squads entirely, there's nothing that can't out fight or just overwatch them to death.

If a 10 man guard squad can knock your cc unit down to half strength when you get the charge, your cc unit isn't a cc unit. It's a joke.

Could you give us a sample of what kind of lists are typical in your meta? Most of the useful advice (other than don't bother, wyches suck) would need to know where the bar needs to be set for power levels.

I'm aware that wyches are rather terrible. I'm going for more of a thematic force with the DE, i wouldn't be playing them all that much, just as a cool force to collect, and possibly as allies for eldar if I ever start them. If I don't then they'll remain as just a cool themed force to collect and paint. Plus I play in a rather casual meta, so wyches sucking isn't all that big of a hindrance for me.

If you want a collection that might be useful with eldar, I would strongly suggest raiders and wyches. Try to get a WWP. The raider and the WWP have some use in an eldar army, almost nothing else in the DE army benefits eldar.
