Greetings all.
I'm thinking of running the following for a club tournament and I'm looking for input:
Kairos Fateweaver 300
Heralds of Chaos
• Herald of Tzeentch: Psyker (Mastery Level 3); Exalted Reward; Disc of Tzeentch 150
• Herald of Tzeentch: Psyker (Mastery Level 3); Disc of Tzeentch 120
11 Pink Horrors of Tzeentch 99
11 Pink Horrors of Tzeentch 99
8 Screamers of Tzeentch 200
Sorcerer: Chaos bike; spell familiar; melta bombs; Psyker (Mastery Level 3) 150
10 Chaos Cultists 50
Heldrake: baleflamer 170
Gorepack
• 2 Chaos Bikers: 2× meltagun; + 1 Chaos Biker Champion 96
• 2 Chaos Bikers: 2× meltagun; + 1 Chaos Biker Champion 96
• 10 Flesh Hounds 160
• 5 Flesh Hounds 80
• 5 Flesh Hounds 80
1,850 points
Going for a small screamerstar with msu support. The sorcerer joins the larger flesh hound unit and either rolls biomancy or fishes for invisibility. My main concern is dealing with Knights (multiples of at least), but between melta guns, melta bombs, Fateweaver's powers, and hopefully a shot at misfortune, I should have a chance. Plus with summoning and multiple units, I should be able to feed them chaff, and/or score a bunch of maelstrom points for the win (modified maelstrom missions btw).
Any opportunity to improve the list is very welcome!

I mean I really think you nailed it as far as current competitive deamons is concerned. I might consider belakor over the biker sorcerer but it's also another 200 points so maybe not worth it. Cutting a helldrake and a mastery level off of the hearelds of tzeench seems like a huge tax but then again guarenteed invisibility for those Khorne dogs may be worth it. Really depends on how much ignores cover you see in your meta though I think. Best of luck in the tournament.

Yeh I'm back and forth with Be'lakor tbh. He does bring a lot to the party, but that's a big investment, and less useful with an msu approach.
I appreciate the input!

as a daemons player I can say that a chaos knight is insanely powerful. get a khorne knight, have fateweaver reroll his grimoire, and give him prescience and he's a wreck ball. he will absolutely decimate other knights most times. double the attacks and unles they get a lucky shot on D, he can hurt them bad.
a nurgle herald with Miasma of Pestilence has also proven to be insanely powerful for my armies. i run one in a big beast of nurgle pack and i find that once i get into combat, the nerf to the opponent weapon skill helps protect me AND put out more damage. plus it is cast on my unit so its not easy to deny.
if it were me, I would probably drop the chaos marines detachment right out. the gorepack is great, the daemons are great. drop the marines, add a knight if you have or can borrow one and i think you'd see a huge output in damage. heldrakes just arent doing it for me anymore. they dont seem to kill the things i want dead and by the time they come in, youre paying a lot of points to flame a couple of things.
my attitude now is that the ultimate ignore cover weapon is a good melee assault.

Haha you make an excellent point there! If I could include a khorne knight, I absolutely would. However this tourney doesn't allow experimental rules... For general club play, knight all the way.
I'll admit that I'm tempted to drop the CSM detachment, though the heldrake is there to help out against Eldar jetbikes, chew through marines, and add a little AA power with vector strikes. Within the constraints of the tournament (should've mentioned: three sources, no duplicate detachments, dataslates count as a source too), I don't think I can do better.

Ya I'm super glad ITC allows chaos Knights now! The slaanesh knight is amazing, fleet on a knight is stupid and 3" longer run.
So I've been playing Deamons all last itc year and was able to conquer Knights pretty easily. Add lance is easy, just flood he table with deamonettes and he can never win any objective game.
I have found the one knight can be a problem. Roll for misfortune and use fateweaver as a gunboat. He can fly to an unsheilded side with misfortune and flickering fire and light it up. Two turns and most Knights are toast, even better when your using the heralds for the same purpose.
I would also add melta bombs to the bikes.
But honestly I would drop the CMS. A pair of slaanesh soul grinders can follow the dogs and just cause havoc. Since your allready running a screamer star it will take most your resources to keep alive. I have found to to maintain multiple stars ends in disaster

Pretty damn good advice all round actually, thank you. I can certainly see the merit to dropping the CSM portion of the list. It's a shame to lose the drake, but they really aren't what they were, and there's always the possibility that it won't show until turn four anyway. If I drop the CSM and add a couple grinders, I end up with this:
Kairos Fateweaver 300
Heralds of Chaos
• Herald of Tzeentch: Psyker (Mastery Level 3); Exalted Reward; Disc of Tzeentch 150
• Herald of Tzeentch: Psyker (Mastery Level 3); Disc of Tzeentch 120
11 Pink Horrors of Tzeentch 99
11 Pink Horrors of Tzeentch 99
8 Screamers of Tzeentch 200
Soul Grinder: Daemon of Slaanesh; baleful torrent 170
Soul Grinder: Daemon of Slaanesh; baleful torrent 170
Gorepack
• 2 Chaos Bikers: 2× meltagun; + 1 Chaos Biker Champion (melta bombs) 101
• 2 Chaos Bikers: 2× meltagun; + 1 Chaos Biker Champion (melta bombs) 101
• 5 Flesh Hounds 80
• 5 Flesh Hounds 80
• 5 Flesh Hounds 80
• 5 Flesh Hounds 80
1,830 points
Gives me 20points to play with. Might spend them on an extra horror for each squad (to retain the 2WC a bit longer), or maybe a combi melta for each of the biker champions. I also split the gorepack to 4x5 hounds for proper msu.
The more I look at this list, the more I like it actually. Any further comments? Including any suggestions for those last 20 points. Automatically Appended Next Post: Edit: I could also take a couple of Nurgle grinders in place of the slaanesh ones, to protect my backfield and force jinks on jetbikes and such with the phlegm blast. Not sure which is better tbh.
