My kickstarter for funding a line of 32mm high quality resin miniatures inspired by Slavic folklore has launched!
Check it out! Lots of models to choose from and a lot of potential for use in pen & paper rpgs, proxies in wargames, etc. on top of being featured in the in-development game skirmish game, Portals: Worlds Collide. Quick-start rules for the game have also been posted on the page as well as some tutorial videos going over the basics of gameplay and an example game.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1098010653/slavic-fantasy-miniatures/
if you can't part with the cash but you like the miniatures, please tell your friends, gaming clubs, etc! Any form of support is appreciated.
Thank you!

There's a new update with some work in progress sculpts of a few concept art pieces featured on the kickstarter.
They're by Patrick Keith, who has sculpted for a lot of companies including Privateer Press, Reaper and his own line of miniatures, Bombshell Miniatures. He has an iconic sculpting style and he's done a lot of the miniatures on the range of figures that I'm funding. Check out the Usurpers and Grenadiers by him on the kickstarter!

I think you need more pictures of the models, showing different angles.
Unfortunately, the only model I would really want from those currently shown is the militia veteran (the woman kneeling with the rifle), but it looks like I can't get that one by itself. I like the art for Vuk, but it will depend on how well the sculpt matches it.

Thank you for pointing that out! Feedback is appreciated.
I do have additional photos of the figures, mostly I just didn't want to make the page feel too 'crammed' with images. Do you think 3 images per mini would be good? I'll work on that this evening and hopefully have a better looking page for you to check out in the morning tomorrow =]
Also in terms of wanting the militia veteran by herself but it not being available: I'm going to fix that for you, I'll change it so that instead of just having the option of getting one of the three militia members with the Scout Pledge (the $12 one) I'll go ahead and change it so that you can get any of the miniatures featured on the kickstarter apart from certain larger ones (like Baba Yaga, Baba Yaga's House, Mafta for example).
And as far as Vuk, have you seen our update? It's still unfinished and WIP, but it's starting to show (a little bit) of what the sculpt will look like when completed. The 'peg' under his leg is there to hold him steady for the sculptor + for molding vents btw, it's meant to be removed during assembly and isn't part of the 'finished model'.
I'll post more updates with photos when the sculpt for Vuk and the others progress more too.

Cool! If/when we start unlocking stretchgoals I'll try my best to get some concept of them finished and added. Right now there's a Vlad the Impaler vampire-style and a dismounted Winged Hussar character lined up after the current two stretch goals are unlocked.
Do you want more slavic women with rifles that look sort of in the same style/posing of the militia veteran (there's another alt. militia veteran that's added for free to all Huntress Pledge and higher btw if we reach the $11,000 stretch goal) or entirely different looking female slavic characters with rifles?
Sincerely,
Anderson of Deraj Studios

Jared,
I would post pics of the minis in forum posts - very few people will actually click through to a Kickstarter link unless there's some good pics to entice them to click. I'd definitely have pics of the militia and the awesome grenadiers in the main post.

Thanks all! I'm really pleased with the way the artwork turned out. I'm working with one of my sculptors on a solution for a way that I can get it sculpted so that it's easier to cast, thus bringing the cost slightly down for both me to get it cast and for people to buy the miniature.
Here's a scale comparison shot showing my miniatures next to others!

Wow, that compmarison photo is definitely a flattering comparison for your minis! Although the Infinity model in the middle would look really good if the paint job were to the level of yours
Have you sold any of these minis before or did you just have some masters cast and painted up for presentation purposes? It seems like even if the KS doesn't take off, you could do well just offering those for sale on their own (for RPG use or the like).

The militia are phenomenal. And I don't know how anyone can not love the grenadiers - their masks are so cool. I'm in for $40. Love me some high quality, nicely sculpted resin models.

Thank you! These ones aren't masters actually, the pictured painted resins are the same quality (even the same batch) as the resins that all backers will receive. And yeah the infinity model is cool, that's my paintjob (on the infinity model) in comparison to a studio painter's paintjob
kestral wrote:I'm in for Molitov Cocktail and Mace Woman - she can definately find employment with me. Might do more later. Great concepts!
Awesome! Thank you for backing and glad you like the concepts! If you're going for a larger group of Militia I would recommend checking out the Territory Patrol pledge ($64 usd). It's essentially the Huntress pledge x2 but with each model costing a couple bucks less than they do at the Huntress pledge.

Not as of yet but I did a little research on him just now and he seems like a very interesting character, definitely a possibility of him appearing in our line of figures at some point in the future!
Thanks for letting me know about him!

Hello all! The first kickstarter was canceled due to a slow growth of funds a couple of weeks ago. Good news though!
I relaunched last night though and the campaign's already past funding! Lots of stretch goals to break through, take a gander here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1098010653/slavic-fantasy-miniatures
New things in this kickstarter:
1: EU Friendly Shipping
2: Both pewter and resin versions of each mini (apart from Baba Yaga's House, that bad boy's only available in resin).
Let me know what you think and if you have any questions just ask, I'll get back to you asap.

Complaining? Oh God, no. You "complain" when you wish to change something, to make it better. I feel no such desire seeing that somebody has got stuck in Neanderthal Russophobic propaganda and stereotypes and wishes to make money from it. I however, will not be spending a dime on it and hope the other people will not too. That "projected" tanked once I hope it will continue to fail miserably.
Ah so just vitriol. I don't quite get how Baba Yaga = Russia, and how it is "Russophobic", but I am guessing I am better off not knowing the rational behind the phrase "Neanderthal Russophobic propaganda."

Okay, let's nip that line of discussion there, please. If you don't like the project, simply don't back it - let's save general political discussion for the OT board.
Deraj, would you consider offering an art print of the chicken at some point? I want that on my wall

Yes, right now the sculpt is still in-progress. The sculptor I'm working with though is good at keeping the finished sculpts extremely close to the original concept art =]

Thanks for stepping in, I wasn't entirely sure how to respond to that.
And that's an awesome idea on getting the giant chicken done up as an art print, I'll check around with some of the backers. If there's enough interest and I'm potentially able to get at least a good dozen orders I'll definitely look into it!

Yeah, the Kislev in WFB were neat. Do you play Frostgrave? I have a friend who plays and that's what he's using the human models from the kickstarter campaign for. They also would work well in Mordheim!

Yeah I'm really pleased with the artwork for it
I've hired a sculptor that I know works extremely close to the concept art that I give him, so the concept art is a rather accurate depiction of what the finished sculpt will look like.
