In the real world, a battle casualty is someone who is killed, wounded, captured or missing.

In the game models can be wounded without being killed. Victory conditions revolve around 'slain' = killed models. We assume these are casualties.

Therefore it matters to the game if a wounded model is a casualty or not.
Yes, a casualty can mean injured, but it means injured and removed from battle. Lots of soldiers get scuffs and bruises in the field of battle, but only become a casualty when they are no longer fit for duty.

The mention of casualty comes immediately after talking about counting models removed from play and comparing it to the number of models in your army. It's pretty obvious what it means in context.

That's what I said earlier on.

I think that comments like that make the Baby Jervis cry. We really should not be debating what the term casualty means in a miniatures game...

Well, that really depends on what your definition of "a miniature game" is...

Great report Matt, makes me quite jealous to be in another country entirely to WHW... Also wanted to point out that I loved the Heraldor before you made loving the Heraldor cool! Blow that horn, blow it...

If GW had explained the section on summoned models better, we would not need to.

It doesn't take genius to make the intended meaning clear by a better choice of words and phrasing.

Great write up, super jealous as we have nothing remotely approaching that scale here.

As for the rules argument, you will never, ever, get air tight rules unless you get lawyers involved, and when rules start reading like legal documents someone without a legal degree will not understand. I am pretty happy with the 4 page rules, never had an in-game problem that wasn't solved with a dice roll.

Edit: Looked at the article in your blog, those tables and all the armies look awesome. I don't suppose you have any more pictures of the purple stormcast? I am painting mine in a purple and gold scheme and would be good to see how others are doing it.

I also noticed that in some of your pictures the nurgle guy was using regiment style movement trays, any additional rules or give and take involved with his decision? I should imagine piling in would be a problem

Why don't you organise your own event? The main problem is how to organise enough scenery. If you got a club involved they could help with that. Also, fishtank ornaments are cheap and come ready painted.

(Hope it is okay that I linked to images from your blog, Matt)

Are those Citadel Woods on the table? How do you get them to look so full and "fluffy"? I'm working on a set right now, and mine look more like the trees in the upper right corner - a bit threadbare. Do these trees use additional foliage sprues or something?

Those trees at the top right are actually mine I think that is how they are 'supposed' to look. The trees at Warhammer World, as far as I can tell, use _massive_ amounts of leaf sprues to get that effect. The downside is that as the trees are stuck onto the base, getting minis inside can be a pain - I stick mine down too, but you can at least wiggle your fingers in. That plastic is quite unyielding!

Thinking about it though, those fluffy trees might be easier to paint as there is not so much exposed bark.

Alternatively, take the GW tree trunks, and experiment with various types of lichen/moss that railway modellers use. Cheap, easy and you'll be able to get your fingers in!

Two more events for AOS, January and February. I'd love to go to such an event (assuming I can get my army sorted anyway), but why do they make them all two day events?

I've been to warhammer world events in the past, but they used to have a mix of 1 day and 2 day stuff. 1 day was perfect for the likes of me. I'd like to do the 2 day events, but they are, on the whole, not practical for me.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The February event is 'rise of the seraphon' or something. Given I'm going for the lizards that sounds cool. Might try and see if I can sneak in a '2 days to myself' pass assuming I can get the models done in time.

I *think* you can always only attend one of the days.

They have one day events as well - there have been two recently, so would expect more next year. Plus, the one day events are free to attend (haven't gone to one yet).
