I want to make a unit of marines with these or a similar spear conversion bit.

My best idea for executing on this is drilling through my marine's hand and filling in the gaps with green stuff.

Do you have better ideas for me? Willing to look into kit bashing, third party bits, new tools, whatever.
I'm also looking for suggestions for spears to use if you have any.

You could always use the GK force halberds. That'd probably make life easiest.

If you go with the vibro glaives I'd cut a section roughly the size of the hand out of the staff.

Take a look at GK termies, there are halberds with hands attached.

Anvil do some wicked-looking chainglaives with hands attached, they might be easier and more suitable for Assault Marines:

Very reasonably priced and Anvil's casting is always top-notch.

I'd also love to put a spear and shield combo on one or more of my guys - sort of like a Greek Hoplite style. Apart from GK Halberds is there anything else I could use?

Simpler (=/= 'bad', IMO) but much easier to slot into a drilled fist, I think. The thought of trying to bodge those glaives at the top of the thread into a mini's hand gives me the collywobbles.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

GK halberds are the easy answer.

+1 for anvil industry chain glaives. I use them on my Blood Angels. Great stuff.
