Thinking of buying one of the two of these units. But which one is overall better?

Bear in mind that my Necrons are very shooty. I like the idea of the Exile Cannon, but I also like the idea of the Melta that comes with Acanthrites.

What's the rest of the list look like? Obviously it isn't Decurion if you're looking to splash these.

I'm not using a formation for now. My list is

5 X immortals 5X deathmarks. I plan to increase this to 10X immortals.

24 X necron warriors

3 wraiths

Annihilation Barge

Night Scythe (can be a doom if needed)

Tesseract Ark

3 tomb blades

overlord

6X scarab bases.

Before buying models from FW, I'd extend the current army by GW models and units.
I'd go for 6 Tomb Blades, 6 Wraith at least, one Ghost Ark, one Night Scythe. I'd also mount the Overlord in a CCB.

I'd go with the Sentinel. It's a much easier introduction to working with resin from a modelling point of view, and a really awesome kit.

Agree for the most part, but the CCB isn't as good as it used to be, and your points are better spent elsewhere.
Especially when the Overlords potential 2+/3+, 4++, and 4+RP w/reroll 1s or fails (all dependant on gear) is more resilient than AV13/13/11.
Unless you're doing AV13 wall, I've found its better to just buff your warlord instead, since the warlord gets destroyed when his chariot does, and can't leave it.
I typically found myself allocating wounds to my Overlord so he could tank the hits instead of Jinking when I took CCB.

Granted, I don't play CAD 'crons. So maybe its a different beast. I dunno.

Also Tomb Sentinel. Centipedes are cooler looking than mosquitos.

- 10000+ pts
Imperial Knights- 5 Standard Knights / 3 Cerastus Knights
Officio Assassinorum - 4 Assassins
CSM - 500pts? Maybe? Its from the Officio Assassinorum box so I'm pretty sure its not enough to run in a CAD
Vampire Lords- I have no idea I bought it like two days before I left country and they're still in storage so I'll have to see when I get back.]

I actually hate the tomb blade models, and I resolved never to buy them again. So fiddly and difficult to put together and paint.

I respect your advice, of course, but I can fluff up my army with whatever-in-plastic any time. Since my funds are irregular (freelance work) I have to buy what I want for my army in order of desirability.

An Exile cannon is definitely not going to be unused or unwelcome in my Necron army given it's shootiness already, and it works well on both Infantry and Vehicles.

Thereafter, I suppose I should get another Night Scythe instead of a Ghost Ark. I just think it's a better unit for what I want it to do, plus I can easily swap out the weapon to make it a Doom Scythe whenever I need to. Then 5X more immortals and 3X more Wraiths.

Get what looks cool

Though if you have issues with fiddly models then good luck with ether forgeworld options

This is my second FW model, actually. The Tesseract Ark was my first. But this will be my first 100% resin model.

An Overlord in a CCB is fun to play. He will get a lot of attraction during the game.
Tomb Blades with particle weapons are absolutely great. Add neboluscopes and the 3+ save, and you have a great union vs hordes and what not.

You could try using the old metal Destroyers as Tomb Blades - I do. They work quite well in the role....

Well, have fun with it. Here's what I did with mine.

I'd go with the sentinel. The biggest boon the Ancharites had was that they were wraiths with better tougness (and some shooting), but with the new Codex, Wraiths got +1 Toughness so the Ancharites became rather irelecant.

You don't have to be happy when you lose, just don't make winning the condition of your happiness.

To be fair, Arcanthrites can move more naturally with the Destroyer Lord now. You can still play Conga Line with Wraiths and therefore the loss of speed isn't too bad, but it kinda streamlines things.

Plus they DO have Melta in an army that doesn't actually have dedicated AT (anymore at least).

That said, the Sentinel can be used to tackle high Toughness targets, which is DEFINITELY a niche that the army needs fulfilled more than AT.
