I've come up with a new and improved 30k army list for my Death Guard @ 1500 points. I'd love some feedback.

The apothecaries are to be attacked to the tac squads. I think with how many blast templates going down range anti infantry is covered, and with the lascannon team, medusas, and vindicator threading armour, that is covered reasonably. I wonder if I should try to squeeze in something to cover anti-air or anything else.

HQ: 165
Marshal Durak Rask
+Rite of war: The reaping

Troops:783
Legion Heavy support squad
+lascannons

Legion tactical squad
+7 tactical marines
+Vexilla
+additional CCW on marines
+Powerfist on SGT

Legion tactical squad
+7 tactical marines
+Vexilla
+additional CCW on marines
+meltabomb on SGT

Elites: 250
Apothecarion detachment
x2 apothocary
+x2 artificer armour
+x2 rad grenades

Rapier battery
x2 thudd guns

Heavy support: 300
Legion artillery tank squadron
x1 medusa

Legion vindicator
+PotMS

I am almost certain that you cannot chose a rite of war without a praetor or at any point level under 2000pts

Also you need a minimum of ten marines in a horus heresy tactical squad.

I don't know where you're getting your rules from, I found nothing restricting Rites of War to 2000+ battles? You an only take one Master of the Legion per 1000 points, but that doesn't affect this list? Also the way I read the list was that these are all 17 man tactical squads (the minimum of ten, plus seven).

Onto the list itself. I really like it. Move Through Cover close combat tactical squads (I assume with the apothecaries) will deal damage, and the backfield firepower looks solid also. Lots of high priority targets for your opponent to choose between. The only tiny thing I'd say is to look for a few more points somewhere to give the second tactical sergeant a better combat weapon instead of melta bombs, you have plenty of anti-tank already. I like this list.

You tacticals squads are going to get destroyed. You need them to have range

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

You really don't. Numbers + attached Legion Apothecaries + move through will do just fine in keeping them kicking.

The heavy support squad and Medusa battery should pound out more than enough rounds to stomp out mst opposition to the tactical squads. Seventeen marine despoiler squads should be more than able to clean up the leftovers.

I would drop the the artificer armour on the Apothecaries and give that second tactical Sgt a power fist though.

I see Marshal Durak Rask will be attached to the heavy support squad ?

Sounds good.

YUP! Gotta love tankhunter/wrecker heavy weapons.

I should clear up that yeah, the tac squads are min 10 +7, I just listed the addition with the assumption of the minimum.

Also I probably wrote it poorly, but I bought additional CCW for the tactical squads rather than making them despoilers.

A bit more points per squad, but a good idea.

Only masters of the legion can take rites of war.

Durak Rask has master of the legion. He is the Death Guard legion's Marshall of Ordnance.

The HQ has the Master of the Legion special rule.
