where is the Str D in your army?
Tau have it in LoW (stormsurge), but I was wondering where it is available in other armies more to avoid it in games if I stick to a strict CAD (no LOW and disallow formations).

Eldar have the D in its wraithknight and wraithguard weapon choices. There is also the Sanctic Demonology and its Vortex power that's Strength D. Besides that it's mostly LOWs. I know for chaos the only D is forgeworld and apocolypse options.

Only D for Orks is via the Stompa (via the Mega-Choppa or Gaze of Mork/Bursta Kannon from the Kustom Stompa build) and the Kill Bursta tank from what I remember.

I think the Morka-nauts(Or possibly Gorka-nauts ) also have StrD melee weapons

For Dark Angels, our Dark Talon's Rift Cannon gains the vortex special rule when the scatter dice comes up doubles and vortex weapons are treated D weapons. So for us, it's unreliable and can't be counted on. Other than that, I guess our IK options have D weapons in various forms but those aren't from the Dark Angel codex.

The Dark Angels have it on their Dark Talon(not the they are incredibly popular) if you roll doubles on the blast scatter it goes from str 10 ap2 to vortx.

Dang Jay beat me to it.

Honestly if you start telling people to many things they can't bring and how they can build their army, expect them to either come back wit there own demands for you or that people may just not want to play you. I generally don't bring LoW in friendly games but would be annoyed if I was told here are a giant stack of units you can't use(far more restrictive than tournament rules), I would probably start list things you can't use as well, oh your playing guard well I don't like orders so none of those, no vehicles either.

Strength D isn't all that amazing really, its annoying against large point sinks like deathstars but unless it's a large/apocalyptic blast generally you can just focus fire on the wielder and have it killed off. Only reason wraithknight are so annoying is how durable and fast it is in addition to its low cost And D weapon

Admittedly 6th edition str D was way out of balance but it got brought way down in 7th.

Even the Wraithknight isn't so bad because it's just 2 shots. Sure it'll put a hurt on vehicles but other than that, the worst its going to do is remove 2 models. Now Wraithguard with their template D weapons and their no scatter deep strike DEldar friends are another story.

I think it was actually more balanced with the old version. Hull Points really balanced it out, but 8th edition StrD has a very large chance of automatically annihilating any non-super heavy regardless of hull points(assuming it doesn't get an explodes result)

It was also much simpler to use. None of this random table crap. It was elegant. Auto-wound, Auto-penetrate, Instant Death, no cover saves.

Sadly not, they're only S10 AP1, concussive. Not bad, but not great compared to their competition of knights and wraithknights who swing at a far faster initiative.

Fair enough, I could have sworn they were StrD.

That said, it wouldn't matter much for the reasons you stated even if they were.

The low initiative is actually one reason I am apprehensive about giving my Knights Thunderstrike Gauntlets as it removes the advantage of D at I4.

Necrons have a slot machine Str D on the c'tan shards and vault.

Sisters don't have the D and won't ever have the D until the Emp comes.

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case.
