I asked my friends if they'd let me use any of the artifacts from HH Book 4 (iirc), and was surprised to get alot of pushback on this. My friends are going by the book in that they think these artifacts should only be available if you are playing the campaign for which they are applicable.

Do you all incorporate these artifacts into non-campaign games?

I've been told there's explicit text with how to use those artifacts in HH4, and that they are part of a campaign system. I just got argued to death about this last night, but haven't had a chance to confirm in the book yet

In any case, not trying to be argumentative here. If my friends don't want to play with them outside of campaigns, that's fine. I can use em if I ever run into anyone who doesn't mind.

Your friends are wrong. The first paragraph of the rules explains who can take relics and how many you can take, the second paragraph then adds an additional restriction "If playing a campaign" ~ ergo, the previous rules apply whether you are playing a campaign or not.

Yeah, now that I've read the section, I see that.

Still, if my friends don't want to use em...well, pick your battles and all. Not sure I want to have that argument again. If it comes up again organically, I'll just say "Page 222 says you can" and be done with it.

Really? You're getting gripes in a 30k game? Blimey. Those relics are fair game for all as far as I am concerned

Let me guess, your friends chose legions that get the crap relics while your legion gets one of the good ones?
Apart from the argument about that one relic that lets your dice roll(s) count as a 6, they're not particularly any more powerful than what some of the special characters or Primarchs already can do.

But, I do eagerly await the day I play against a tank heavy opponent so I can unleash the Mechanicum's computer virus relic for endless lulz.

That was FAQ'd to one dice, not all.

The relics are fine for use in all games, although not all of them are equally useful.

My $0.02, which since 1992 has rounded to nothing. Take with salt.

I'm using Word Bearers rules...not a particularly good relic. I was more interested in some of the general ones like Void Shield Generator or whatever it's called.

None of the relics are even that crazy. Fair to middle ground really.

The void shield harness is what you're talking bout. It's smaller than a void shield is and has more repercussions on it. So not seeing why it's getting a local ban there. To each their own I suppose.

Tell who ever has issue with you using relics that your playing 30k not 40k, things be pretty balanced :-D
For a character bash I'm planning on making a salamanders praetor with 4 relics... Just for shiz and gigz

To be fair to my friends, they are playing 30k as well, and also aren't taking any artifacts, so its not like they're trying to single me out or anything, I guess they just don't want to play with them.

Next time I see em I'll mention that its clearly legal if we want to play with the artifacts. If for whatever reason they insist, then like I said I just won't use em until I find an opponent that doesn't mind.
