Hi All! This is my "experimental" Gun line for my death guard. Basically, I wanted to try a list that fit the 'visual" theme of horus heresy in my eyes ( ALL the power armor regular dudes). this is mostly because I finally own enough marines to not run an elite heavy mess XD. The missing 50 points is in the form of an aegis line that I'll throw in

The general Idea is to use the MoS to buff the BS (of course) and combine their bombardments with Typhons. The 4 squads either a) wait in my deployment zone behind the aegis line, b) do the death guard thing, and advance using the dreadnoughts to support, the terminators are for Typhon to sit in, and punch things when they get to close XD. Any C&C would be nice, but again, this is a bit of a novelty list more than a competitive one.

Yup, that's why I have Typhon in there, he blends in with the list, so you might have missed it, thanks though!

I don't think you want to be Stationary. You really want to waddle into your enemy and punch his face because death guard. Don't get the ADL

Just observations and recommendations.

I am sure the Mortis doesn't come in Talons, so you would need to drop the Rapiers and Apothecaries. Don't have my books handy, but are you playing AoD army list? If so, can you take four Elites choices?

I would recommend moving them to Typhon as a terminator bodyguard.

Also , no The Reaping RoW? For the points, you could drop a two tactical squads from your Troops and add in a two heavy support squads with either missile launchers or autocannon for the same price. And they still count as Troop choices. This would really beef up the gun line. Replace one of the Master of Signals with a Siege Breaker to buff the gun line. A +1 BS from the cognis-signum and with the Art of Destruction buff of Tank Hunter would be ouch time.

The Rapier battery would also work well with the quad mortars. These plus the Master of Signals orbital bombardment can be used with the Nuncio-Vox on your tactical squads.

With a solid gun line, you could also go completely CCW & BP on the tacticals, freeing up some points to play with else where. You still get Fury of Legion, but no rapid fire and only at the 12" range. But with weight of fire from the line, it shouldn't be a factor.

Yeah, you cannot take a mortis talon, which is why I'm iffy on it. with the AoD force org, it's the same as regular, but 3 HQ and 4 Elite. the only problem with the terminator HQ is that it would have to downgrade to a 5-man squad, and at that point, I would probably just use a Deathshroud squad.

Maybe dropping to a four man terminator command is not a bad idea. That would free up an Elites spot. Drop the three Contemptors for two Contemptor-Mortis patterns. They can advance with the tacticals. I am pro-Kheres assault cannon, but for five more points, they can take lascannons.

It will look impressive on the tabletop for sure, ripe for Typhon's, Quad Launcher Rapiers and Scorpius launchers to obliterate. But, they are Death Guard, so who cares about casualties!

You need more Anti-tank for dealing with the heavier stuff. Those Rapier's will be Target number one so that the superheavy you will most likely face is then free to rampage unmolested. Using the reaping Rite of War allows you take more anti-tank while keeping the heavy infantry theme (Heavy Support squads as troops!) and will allow you to pile on the bodies as well as heavy weapons. Add Mesdusa's (with supporting Nuncio Voxes) and Leviathans for flavour both of which suit the Deathguard I feel. Finally, consider swapping the Rapier's weapons to Graviton Cannons which are excellent in their ability to destroy Spartans and Superheavies.

I should add that I love the idea of it and it will look most impressive, just make sure that you have enough stuff to counter the beefy mass killers (For example: Reductor Minotaurs, Astartes Typhons and Auxilia Stormhammers/Stormswords)

At the end of the day, you just need to be happy with your list. Hopefully other gamers ideas will able get your list building juices flowing. Like this:

@zedmeister Yeah, the big problem with this list is the lack of AT, but that's mostly due to the fact that 1) I don't own much in the way of AT (I'm getting a leviathan, deredeo, and a ML heavy support squad in January, and 2) Locally, there is not much in the way of tanks from other 30k players at the moment. Though I do agree, I really want a medusa or two (cough-three-cough) because the option to go phosphex is to hard to ignore I like the rapiers, however, I do like the updated quad mortar rules as well, not sure on the grav as my leviathan will handle that front. Thanks for the tips, really helped

@combat engineer I like it! the only reason I didn't fit any heavy support squads in there is because I'm lacking the models (though, 10 autocannons and 10 Missile launchers soon ) the only spot i slightly disagree is exchanging the bolters for chainswords, 'cause then it's less of a gun line, and more of a melee force.

Nasty. What about swapping the two Mortis Dreadnoughts with a single Autocannon Deredeo? Will free up about 140 points for other goodies. Options include;
- a Void Shield Harness for one of the MoS Centurions to camp with a heavy weapon squad - +1 BS to the launchers and an AV12 bubble to protect them
- Juggle some points and get a third Medusa
- Tactical Support Squad with flamers and chem munitions
- Don't forget Rad Grenades to mess up anyone who assaults you

Understood. I personally would go either way. All bolter toting marines or assault orientated marines. 40pts a squad seems point costly. I figure eventually someone has to move from the gun line to take obectives. But either or in the weapon department will still work.

See, juices! Hmmm, juicy. I really like the Deredroe model. I do not own one, but I would like to add one to my Eater of Worlds. And a Leviathan. I like to pair my dismounted squads with Contemptors. Works well for me.

Medusas over Deredoe. Try out the Mortis. The standard Contemptor is also good as you can really customize the weapon loadout. I run one of each.

Hahaha, this is what I love about Legion lists. Far too many juicy toys

The Deredeo is a solid choice, though it excels at anti-air duties. If you don't face any aircraft yet then consider the Medusa as your first step. You mention not many tanks in your local clubs - dropping a Medusa squadron for a few games will shake things up massively. Once those S:10 blasts start or Phosphex shells start landing...

Besides, the vision of serried ranks of Mk3 Death Guard marching, bolters blasting, Autocannon autoloaders screaming, Missiles rushing overhead and massive shells landing ahead just screams Death Guard.

One other thing I forgot to mention: Heavy Support Squad armed with Heavy Flamers and Chem Munitions...
