I dont understand how bubblewrapping (placing a bunch of grots around a stompa) how would this stop an assault? Do they have to assault the grots and kill them before they kill stompa or does it just mean they would have to shoot outside melta range?

Does bubblewrapping help against shooting and assault?

Thanks

Yes on both points. Also called 'speedbump'

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

It means you can tarpit an IK with a bunch of fearless 3 ppm grots while your stompa proceeds shooting double S: D massive blasts.

As koooaei said...

ppm = points per model ... by the way....

Unfortunately I don't think the grots will provide a cover save vs shooting to a stompa as implied above. But it will certainly help keep those killer melee Wraith Knights and Imperial Knights away from your overcosted superheavy....

Custom stompa is in no way overcosted. It's not a stock codex stompa. You could get a more than impressive arsenal of 2 Massive Destroyer blasts, an Apoc ap3 s6 Flamer and some extra stuff for like 550 pts.

This^. The Kustom Stompa is one of the few ways Orks are able to reliably combat the tide of super heavies and GMC roaming about nowadays and properly kustomize an Ork vehicle to one's tastes. Hopefully when FW comes around to updating IA8 that they keep the core aspects of the Kustom Stompa intact, though I definitely wouldn't mind having some options make sense again like the grot fixa upgrade (which now does nothing since Super Heavies don't suffer anything from the vehicle damage chart other than Explodes! results).

Gotcha Gotcha, I always gave it the deth kannon because thats what the stock one had, never realized there was a Str D on there for half the cost! Half the range sucks though :(
