So, I have been considering starting a new army to be a small project to work on beside my main armies and, I always thought Grey Knights looked cool.. But, Are they fun to play and face? Would a Grey Knight army with Imperial Knight support be a fun army? I face mostly Chaos Marines, Chaos Daemons, Khorne Daemon Kin, Necrons, Orks, Eldar and Ultramarines.

If you're regularly playing any kind of daemons and by the looks of it you are Grey knights are loads of fun, they're also pretty decent they rely heavily on their dreadknights but they're a great looking army relatively competitive and are cheap to build being a small number of models army. So if i were you id pick some up asap

They arent to OP against daemons are they? I prefer to have close matches rather then landslide victories.

Daemons tend to rip in peace vs Gk very often.

Cleaning flame can work wonders.
GK is actually a quite good army with Dreadknights and one IK.

GK are SO much fun!

armies often include assassins, Titans and other fancy stuff.
They are hard hitting, good shooting and have awesome psychic powers.

If you do not build a 3 Dreadknights list you can have a lot of fun! (the only thing more cheesy is getting an allied CAD with mass Drop Pods for purifiers ^^)

Competitive daemons actually steamroll GKs.

I am the Hammer. I am the right hand of my Emperor. I am the tip of His spear, I am the gauntlet about His fist. I am the woes of daemonkind. I am the Hammer.

Grey Knights are a mid-teir army when playing with a strict subset of their limited codex, and a poor army otherwise

Of course I still play them, so.. .

I have great fun with my Gk and very rarely use ndks. Also, if you play daemons alot against friends and don't want to steam roll in casual games, don't cast banishment to mitigate the advantage slightly. Unless they are using malefic to spam units. Stunning models to build and paint too.

IMHO This is all that should matter. Its much easier to tone down a harder army to make it fun to play against and to use rather than to try and make an underpowered army playable. GK fall nicely middle of the road. Much harder if you want to play something like something like Harlequins and you are trying to bring your army up to a level playing field so you aren't being walked all over constantly. And honestly, you have to really like the models, and if you like the GK models that's what you should go for. You don't strike me as TFG though so I think it will work out great. If your friends complain too hard about a certain choice, just tone it down on that and replace it with another unit for a couple of games to mix it up.

Yep, Daemons are actually stronger than Gk overall. The only reason GK hard-countered Daemons before was due to warp-quake. These days, Daemons can do pretty much everything GK can do, but better.

Mostly they are feeling pretty fine, doing the Emporers work and all that, I heard Grand Master Mordrak was a bit upset about not appearing as a HQ option in the recent codex, but the word in the warp ( Draigo) thinks he'll get over it in a few centuries. Steve over there is........

I can only apologise, the title made me do it. I wasn't in control of my faculties at the time.

Brb learning to play.

I still realy like the Grey Knight models.. But i'm worried they might be a bit strong against daemons.. I'm also considering Salamanders, And maybe Dark Angels.. For a Space Marine army with a knight.. For Salamanders and Dark Angels I'd buy the Betrayal at Calth box because it looks awesome..

Against Demons in a casual setting it'll be a fun game, I've seen Demon vs. Grey Knights games go both ways, but yes the GK codex was designed with Demons in mind. Salamanders are awesome too, good luck with the decision

Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!

I'm starting to lean towards Salamanders, And my friend (Who plays the Daemons) thinks Salamanders seem cooler too. Plus they got Vulkan, And he's awesome (Both the GW one and the primarch..) And I'm thinking of getting 2 knights for them (Not at the same time, And not to run at the same time) Because I want both one with Thermal Cannon (Since it fits with the Salamanders) And one with Avenger Gatling Cannon and fist (Cus it is cool.. xD)

Thanks for all the posts everyone ^_^

Sallies are a great army as well. Great fluff, and if you have the kitbashing ability there are some cool conversions you can make for them. Knight-Errant and Warden I assume?

I unfortunately have no conversion or kitbashing ability.. xD I hardly even manage to assemble complicated models like vehicles.. xD So my friend assembles them for me in exchange for favors or some money ^_^ Woo for having good friends who will help out! ^_^
