I'm moving into my own place and so wll actually have space to play 40k. I have a 6 2'x2' boards but I need a table to play them and ideally I'd like one that I can fold up and put away. Walmart has these, but I would need two of them. Anyone know of any alternatives?

The downdised to the plastic top of those tables is the boards are going to try to slide everywhere you may have to get something like a microfiber blanket and put it under the boards and on the table they should slide less that way.

Really, that's one of the best solutions you can ask for - works for gaming, and then any other time you need a table for table reasons.

There is a material that can be placed under rugs on wood flooring that keeps them from sliding (it looks like foam netting). Covering the table in that material would do the trick.

Or just get a FAT Mat that doubles as a good terrain top or anti slippery surface.

I have three of those fold-up plastic tables and they do the trick nicely They're very robust and I've put boards on top of them with no slippage - although as @casvalremdeikun said, you can buy anti-slip/anti-dent mats that go under normal tablecloths.

I got the 4x2' versions to give me a more flexible setup - I use one for boardgames or two for a 4x4' game table. They fold down to 2x2', which you'll find as easy to store as your current boards. Also good when I'm making terrain or painting out in the garage, and they're handy for BBQs in the summer.

I use one very much like that (my board is made up of 4'x2' sections, not 2'x2' though). Cost me $30AUD a few years back when a local hardware place had a sale.

That foam non-slip stuff people use under mats and rugs works well for stopping the boards slipping - but I also use foldback clips to hold the boards together.

Yeah, I was hesitant about the price, but these seem like the best option. Plus, given their size, I can fold them down and put them in the closet for storage.

I have two 4'x4' home-made table-tops that is framed by 1"x2" with two supports in the middle.
The folding tables make a great base and are ideal for storing away if space is limited.
I put anti-slip feet on the bottom and then put a couple screws into the frame and run bungee cord off those under the table to hold it in place.
If I am using the two for an 8'x4' game I just attach small clamps to hold them together, I am tempted to imbed a few rare earth magnets.
You could just use some of that anti-slip shelf liner you can pickup pretty much anywhere (Walmart springs to mind).
There are a few other options, you could screw in some rubber stops to prevent the table top from moving.
Anyway, have fun.
