A while back, I made a post that priming in cold temperature caused the chaos black primer to crack on my models.

So I've been placing my models in a container with simple green for around 4 days or so, and when I took out the models to scrub the cracked primer off, I got nothing. Some black smudges on my toothbrush yeah, but nothing visible came off the model.

I should note that the simple green I used was about a year old by now, so maybe it lost its strength? If not, what is a better alternative to strip cracked chaos black primer

EDIT: My main consideration is Dettol or Super Clean now. Anyone know if this is good?

Will it damage the model? How long should they be placed in them?

Challenger or grease lightning may also work.

Don't use it on resin. Resin will melt Oo
Plastics are fine, as is metal. I've had plastics in it for months without issue. You can get results as fast as 10mins but I like to leave for at least 30mins.
You do need a bit of ventilation and I advise using gloves as it dries out hands really fast.
Also, don't rinse with water pre scrubbing. Scrub it in the pot you've had it sitting in. Water dilutes it to uselessness!
You want Isopropyl 98% minimum =)

Steps for how long I should leave the models in there?

Got it. Will consider this, but will see other options too. Basically I can leave it for just an hour or so? Does this get rid of primer.

Should work in an hour or so =) but as said, don't introduce water else you kill the effectiveness ^^
It's gotten rid of primer for me =)

Plastic can sit in isopropyl for weeks, I know, I'm forgetful.

You want to scrub them a bit in the IPA though, if you take them out the alcohol will evaporate fast enough that the paint will start to restick.

Well, the issue with that is I just need to get rid of primer, not really paint.

Also, how does everyone here feel about Dettol or Super Clean?

Primer is paint, for the purposes of my explanation.

Dettol works, because it has IPA in it. If you want a more expensive version of IPA that stinks forever, use dettol.

NA Superclean is apparently amazing, but the Australian versions of it are rubbish.

I'm currently in Toronto right now, so I can get superclean. I just don't know how long to leave it in for.

Superclean is great. Use it neat and wear gloves when you scrub the models with a cheap electric toothbrush. Leave it overnight and see if the paint is starting to shift. If not, leave it another night.
