You could run meltas, chainfists, something with armourbane.

The thing to remember is while you can't one shot them, an explodes or instant death result is pretty dang good to get. A strength-buffed Libby with a force axe is going to knock out a wraithknight pretty good, and I've found myself adding Inquisitor Coteaz with his Daemonhammer more and more just because he's a cheap dude with a S8 force weapon.

For Superheavies, melta and Lascannons are king. A squad of imp fists Lascannon devs will handle a knight in 2-3 turns no problem even through the shield. The best thing to do to one-turn it is send some melta to one side and have your Lascannon battery to the front-he can't protect both angles and you'll get him good with one or the other.

Normally just have one squad of devs with lascanon but there always killed right away
Would it be better to run more squads

The guy at my club who runs IF pretty much always runs two squads. He also beats everyone to death with invisible Pedro- buffed scouts that get in your face, so they die a bit slower.

Moscow, Russia

Mathematically, 4 Lascannon Devastators with Devastator Doctrine active do 2 wounds to a Riptide in a turn of shooting (not counting stimms or possible nova charged shield).

Three Predators with Lascannons in the formation that gives Monster Hunter do 4 wounds.

To a Wraithknight (assuming no invulnerable or cover save) they do 1.6 and 2.8, respectively.

Yeah, they're not optimal against wraithknights. I was more speaking to the fact that as IF they get tank hunter, which makes them quite good against imperial knights and shv. Against a wraithknight your best bet by far is grav, but as I mentioned psykers are also quite good as they pack force weaponry and the means to buff up their strength.

As I guy who never uses psykers how can they hurt something like a wrigthknight . how does a force weapon even threaten them

Don't go all grav, just a 3-man squad of devastator centurions in a fast attack pod. That'll run you 275 pts, and can target any MC on the table turn 1. The cents will then draw whatever fire is needed to kill 6 T5 2+/4++ (cause you dropped them into a ruin) wounds in a single turn away from everything else in your army.

Wraithknights are kind of an exception because they are T8, but with Iron Arm or hammerhand you can boost your strength up enough to do a wound. Against GMCs each wound becomes D3 wounds (and no FNP), but against regular MCs like the riptide a single unsaved wound will kill it. Getting there is another matter, but it can be done. If you ally in Grey Knights, Dreadknights excel at this. TH/SS terminators are a good bodyguard unit, with 2+/3++ and S8 they are pretty tough and can deal a substantial amount of damage.

Read the rules on Force Weapons (which librarians have) and then read the rules on instant death.

Even a force axe can wound it (albeit on '6's). It's not exactly likely, but the fact that the risk is there is usually enough to make the elder player play keep-away if he can.

Librarians are probably the most tactically useful HQ for a space marine army, to be honest.
