I'm just curious I hear anything from Luna Wolves to Ultramarines and Blood Angels, can anyone shed some light on the subject for me, just curious!

Well technically there weren't any chapters prior to the heresy since it only came into existence afterwards through Guilliman's reorganizing of the Legiones Astartes into what they are now in 40K.

So prior to the Heresy I would say that arguably the Luna Wolves, Ultramarines and the Emperor's Children were amongst the most favoured in his eyes. Luna Wolves largely because of the number of compliances and being the Horus' own legion granted them special favour, especially since they were the only ones allowed by the Emperor to be renamed after their Primarch. The Emperor's Children's favour can be seen as the first of marines to bear the Emperor's Palatine Aquila which no other marine did until after the Heresy. The Ultramarines seem to be favoured given that he used them and Guilliman as an example before Lorgar when he nuked Monarchia.

After the heresy? I don't think he really had a favourite given that he was stuck on the Golden Throne from that point on but maybe Grey Knights? I mean they got his own geneseed from him which is quite literally "The Emperor's Gift" to mankind.

There actually were "chapters" in the Heresy they were just chapters inside the Legions themselves. One of the HH novels discusses some of the ones inside the Word Bearers (such as the Serrated Sun if I remember the name right)

I thought I read somewhere that Sanguinius was one of his favorite sons or something, I remember the Angels and Fists were there to protect the Emporer in the inner sanctum when Horus came to kill em.

Right, I forgot the Gal Vorbak were part of a Chapter. The Ultramarines definitely had this form of organization too, I believe they had a chapter master named Marius Gage.

Whoops, I forgot about the Imperial Fists as well, they definitely held a special spot as the Emperor's praetorians. I'm honestly not that sure about Sanguinius, the Blood Angels managed to get to Terra on time like the White Scars, unlike the IF who were there fortifying it there before the Heresy.

Gage was a UM chapter master, one of the more important ones too if I my memory is correct. Yeah chapters were a thing still, they're just overlooked in the grand scheme of an entire fethin' legion of Marines.

This is how I see it:

* Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus as Horus was the Emperors favorite son.

* Imperial Fists: Trusted Dorn to be the Defenders of Terra and the construction of the Imperial Palace.

* Ultramarines: Because he respected Guilliman to a degree that was not rivaled by any save Horus.

Horus and his legion were easily the Emperor's favorite.

2nd up I could see Blood Angels and Imperial Fist. Bonus points for being on Terra for the great battle of the Heresy. I cant put the Scars up there because they were always a rogue bunch of guys who didn't kiss anyone's ass,

Space wolves, the only chapter preherasy he trusted to handle the issues that came with murdering other legions. He might have gave Horus the title but he knew who would be reliable to the end.

Out of all the Primarcs and Legions, the Emperor truly favored the [PURGED FROM IMPERIAL RECORDS] and their Primarch [PURGED FROM IMPERIAL RECORDS] above all. When [PURGED FROM IMPERIAL RECORDS] and the Emperior was forced to [PURGED FROM IMPERIAL RECORDS] it deeply hurt him and was the catalyst for how the Emperor treated the rest of the Primarchs. The events of [PURGED FROM IMPERIAL RECORDS] years later and the lose of [PURGED FROM IMPERIAL RECORDS] just reinforced the Emperor's sheltering and yet distant relationship with the Primarchs.

Emperor's Children was definitely a favorite, since he allowed only them to wear the mark of the aquila as a sign of the Emperor's favor.
The Luna Wolves were definitely up there - they were the most successful chapter, and also considering the fact that Horus was made Warmaster shows the Emperor had a special place for their legion, or at least their Primarch. Horus was also known as the Emperor's favorite son, but again I don't know if this reflects on the Luna Wolves themselves.
So I'd say it was definitely between these two. Most other chapters were afflicted with faults to some extent, or got along very poorly with other chapters.

I see a lot of people saying Blood Angels and Imperial Fists, but both would be incorrect. Blood Angels were slaves to the thirst - again it was only Sanguinius himself that was seen as a favorite, not necessarily the entirety of the Blood Angels.
Imperial Fists were only chosen to protect Terra because they're masters of fortification and defense, not because they were favored above anyone else.
Also Space Wolves weren't exactly trusted by the Emperor, the Emperor just knew they were the only ones savage enough to attack and destroy fellow space marines, so he held them in special (not necessarily high) regard.
