Hi guys. I'm having a massive dilemma.
Before I stopped playing 40k a few years ago I amassed a 12k ork army, from hand-me-downs, 2nd hand jobs from friends and just general collection. Since then I've come back to 40k and started a fresh. I've gone through a few armies trying to fin one that clicks and it's starting to cost a fair amount.. I was wondering if I listed a few things that I liked in an army that you, as a community, could help narrow down an army id like.
**I've always had a thing for stoic Knights, or heros. Hearing how a single marine could kill a bloodthirster or two. Having someone stand little chance but throw themselves into the fray.
**in most Rpgs I always play a Mage/necromancer.. I like to have magic within my Arsenal. It's usually what sways me towards the 'daemon' side of things.
** I like to make a deathstar... Not dependant.. But I love a good deathstar to drop on the table and scare people. Especially warlord to be reckoned with!!
** Variety would be lovely to play with... To have a few different ways of playing an army would be ace!!
I know this is a massive wall of text... But it's rather a last ditch attempt at finding something I like to play with :(
If anyone can have some input, I'd appreciate it thanks in advance

I would suggest running an Iron hands with Inquisition allies. You can get rage inducing deathstars.
Chapter Master
Power fist
Shield Eternal
Termi/Arty armour
Assault Terminator Squad
5-10 TH/SS
Librarian Conclave:
3x ML2 Librarians with Termi armour, rolling on Biomancy
Inquisition
Inquisitor: Ordo Xenos
ML1 Psyker w/ Hammer Hand
Power armour
Plasma Syphon
Rad Grenades
Psychotroke grenades
Liber Heresius
Inquisitor: Ordo Malleus
ML1 Psyker w/ Hammer Hand
Power Armour
Incinerator
Empryean Brain Mines
Tomes of Vethric
This lets you scout first turn, possibly have 3+ FnP and EW, heavily assuming you roll Endurance on biomancy. The Ordo Xenos Inquisitor subtracts 1 toughness with rad nades and does a random assortment of stuff with psychotroke nades in assault. Ordo Malleus inquisitor gives you a minute amount of firepower and more abilities with the Tomes.

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

options
1. -Screamer star + CSM . Lots of options there look it up you will not make any friends but it works like a charm and kinda does what you want.
2. Maxed out Librarian Conclave on bikes. + any imperial army
Make a good deathstar (add ravenwing bikes and / or wolves if you want no one to like you )
They have Force weapons -> Force weapons will kill blood thirsters and everything else with ease
They can still are the best psykers in the game and can summon daemons,
3. Grey knights.
All have force weapons, all are psykers non can summon daemons. This army is knightly and also quite affordable in money.

I'm kinda thinking grey Knights... I just dislike the lack of variety in the army

General notes on death stars:
-They should not be foot slogging
-They are all quite obvious so there are a lot of premade net lists out there.
- Good deathstars are hated by a large fraction of the gamers. If your environment isn't that competitive you will not be able to play a lot of games with those lists Automatically Appended Next Post: Grey knight can actual have a lot of variety. The army does have quite a lot of options that no one tends to take and if you add allied detachments and formations like inquisition, assassins, guards or even knights it can be as divers as you like it to be.

When I read what you wrote I thought of Grey Knights. They fit the knightly aspect, and have the fluff of Draigo taking on Demon princes. They can be affordable and have a generally easier paint scheme to do. They also have a nice death star combo.

When I read what you wrote, it sounded to me like you should play Grey Knights.
