Is it just me, or do all Grey Knight lists at 1000pts come close to the following:
-Nemesis Strike Force
-1 Lvl 3 Librarian
-10 Terminators
-2 Dreadknights

I have played three 1000pt games against Grey Knights recently, which were all fielded by three different players. All three fielded nearly identical lists (see above). Is this just a thing in my local area, or do you experience it too? I've seen several battle reports on YouTube with Grey Knights as well, and nearly all of them field this list (at least as a base for a larger army). I'm not complaining, as it seems to be a pretty effective list and I'm glad it works for them, but doesn't it mean that Grey Knights are quite boring to play against if everyone is fielding the same list (if indeed, this is true not just in my local area)?

No, that's pretty accurate.

We're all fielding the same list because the units all play roughly the same with but are made obsolete by a different unit in this edition, with the only exception being Interceptors.

Want a shooty unit? Take Terminators because you can't shoot your psycannons on the move with any effectiveness with power armor any more..
Want a choppy unit? Take Terminators because you can't shoot your psycannons on the move with any effectiveness with power armor any more.
Purifiers and Paladins can't be troops any more, so we have to fill the troops slots and... oops, we're out of points!
Compare a Grand Master to a Chapter Master and you'll see why Librarian is the go-to choice. We're paying points for a psyker so we may as well take the effective one.

But besides my whining about the codex ...

I would imagine most 1000 point lists would be fairly boring to play with/against, because you're making huge sacrifices in what you're taking to fit into the points limit. Obviously a lot of cheaper armies can fit many different lists into 1000 points, but they can't fit a good one without knowing what their opponent is fielding first. The reason why 1850 is so popular for tournaments is because it allows you to field a mostly TAC list with most of the tricks and goodies your army allows, while still forcing some hard choices whether you want option A or option B.
With 850 points less, I imagine it's quite difficult to field a TAC style list as opposed to a Rock, Paper, Scissors list.

Yup. Dk are very good while the rest of the dex is mediocre to slightly above average. Also the codex in general has very few units. I became very bored with the codex and my army was shelved about a year ago.

This is what happens when you create a small codex with terrible internal balance and w/ one superstar unit. Hence the nickname codex dreadknight.

Bring plasma, grav, or any ap2 and you will make short work of these grey knights and their 15 wound army.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Remember when Riflemen dreads were the pinnacle of long-range firepower?

I miss those days.

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.

Actually due to Grav, sometimes I'll take a Stormraven and only run one Dreadknight. And sometimes (gasp) I won't run one at all, and go with Termie and PA spam. It can be fun to run Draigo and Paladins as well. Getting those guys into close combat is a thing of beauty.

I find this to be more of an issue with the codex and the people who create the rules for the game. Certain armies just seem to pigeon hole you into using units you may or may not want to field because they're either very useful and powerful while alternate choices are sub-par.

Basically this.

They made the Psycannon significantly worse on anything with Power Armor, Dreadnoughts have little options to show they're actually Grey Knight Dreadnoughts, and the army still has little ways to get them into combat safely.

Also there's hardly any options in the codex itself.
