Did I dream it or are there 3?

You are correct there will be 3 eventually.

I'm not holding my breath on the Julan Tru having a tech slot.

Wizkids has run out of hull designs for the various races, and they don't seem to have the rights to make new ones or produce anything out of Star Trek cannon. Which isn't really Wizkids fault; Star Trek was all about the Enterprise, Voyager, and DS-9. So we saw a lot of Federation ships, and not too many other ships.

What ships are left from the shows that we haven't seen yet? I have no idea, as I'm not much of a Treckie. And when I say ships, I mean new hulls, not a fourth incarnation of a Valdore or D'Drex.

Neither am I. I think it's some design rule set for the class that they don't have the tech slot. Of course, that's just a guess, but after everyone and his dog were pleading for the vrax to have a tech and it didn't, it felt like an intentional decision.

That isn't a bad theory, I'm cool with it. Romulans do have a captain and a crew that add a tech slot if one gets really desperate. If you are playing casual (the best way) ther flagships and fleet captains are there too.

Another example of where a generic card could fix all the problems for this.

Scientific Support Team: 2 SP: takes both crew and secondary weapon slots: add one tech slot

low cost takes up 2 upgrades slots, to limit min-maxing a ship. IMO a fair trade for a cheap tech slot. Reasoning wise makes sense the ship requires a specialized crew to operate the tech normally not available to the ship. Ship have limited interior space so they convert the area intended for a secondary weapon into a tech 'bay'.

Well if you are playing casual you can pretty much do that with the Officer cards. one of those adds a tech. T'Rul that comes with DS9 isn't bad for 4 points, she adds a tech and if you absolutely need to dodge one hit she has ability to roll less dice and add an evade.

Skill 6 Valdor is a good option too, he adds a tech and if you are in dire straights you can discard a tech for +1 attack. He also has a talent slot.

One of the venues I play at is ship pure and has banned the Officer cards (both Officer Exchange and Officer cards). Except for the dual faction ships. They get to have their cake and eat it too. So I'll never see a Valdore class ship used at that FLGS, but I do see a lot of Assimilated Vessels and Romulan Hijackers...

You can come up with some good builds with the Scimitar and Valdor together and still get in the 90 point limit. I haven't found the nitch yet for the Vrax, but the Valdor is a good ship.

I have come to like penalty pure games. And the Valdore class is pretty dang solid in my opinion.
