I know this gets asked a lot, but with new releases and all that, I'd figure the answer is prone to changing. I'm well aware that Eldar are currently the most compettive race and maybe Necrons are second (from what I heard), but I keep getting told that if you play a Space Marine chapter right, they could get to third.

I personally have my heart set on Blood Angels because I love the DC and BA dreadnought patterns, as well as the Raven Guard for fluff and the fun formations in Kauyon, but I wanted to know what you all thought was the most competitive chapter?

In my view, I'd say it's probably the White Scar bike army with their new formations/relics/warlord traits from Kauyon. That thing is cheesy yo. Especially with gravs. Either that or Ultramarines with gladius.

And JFF, what is the worst right now? I recently got disappointed by the RG getting some formations that would suit the BA well, but I still have my fun with them.

It is, of course, much easier to shout, abuse, and howl than to attempt to relate, to explain. - Lenin

Or Necrons, because, of all things, Tomb Blades.

No, stop laughing, I'm serious.

It doesn't take too many str6 ignores-cover blasts to punch down the Darkshroud, and once that is done the whole thing starts to crumble.

For truly competitive, codex SM > DA > SW > BA.
Codex SM, with Kauyon, has nifty stuff for White Scars, which is generally considered the best Chapter Tactics of the book.

AI & BFG: / BMG: Mr. Freeze, Deathstroke / Battletech: SR, OWA / Fallout Factions: BoS / HGB: Caprice / Malifaux: Arcanists, Guild, Outcasts / MCP: Mutants / SAGA: Ordensstaat / SW Legion: CIS / WWX: Union

Raven Guards assault turn 1 and reserves, while not specific to them really compliments their chapter tactics. Their ability to ignore cover based of it as well is solid.

Scouts scouts scouts!

I would honestly contest RG=WS

As said earlier though SM>*DA>*SW>BA

Thunderdome (SW w/ WS allies and potentially DA Sammy) or White Scars Gladius.

So basically Scars. Army-wide Hit and Run, Scout for Bikes and Rhinos/Razorbacks with Khan (allowing for deployment shenanigans) and their Ignore Cover Relic on Grav-Centurions are brutal to face against.

Worst is probably one of the FW chapters, possibly Minotaurs. They need updating.

I'm going to say space wolves and ravenwing. But that's just because I've had both armies for about 11 years so I'm biased.

I have had some pretty good success with a Salamander Drop list that has been able to handle mass infantry and massed armor. Haven't faced all armies yet (notably Necrons and Nids), but I've tabled Tau, even with the Riptide, several times. Did have a bit of trouble with DE, but I was still trying to iron out my tactics and I think I will do better next time. Surprisingly, mobility hasn't been as big a hindrance I had originally feared.

I would have to go with White Scars. With Gladius they are given everything they need to be a serious threat.

It is a shame they didn't make the hunting force and scarblade good enough to compete with the gladius. I find white scars on bikes is much fluffier.

On a side note the white scars are probably one of the few Space marine armies that probably could run CAD and still be competitive enough to place at the top. Due mostly to their insanely good chapter tactics.

But, the Ultramarines chapter tactic is to run a CAD without losing the rerolls. :(

Don't take this from me, you damn space Mongolians!
