It's me! Hi guys! So I found out I am getting a Warpstone lighting cannon and uh . . Doomwheel from a friend for X-Mas. He told me so cause he wanted to make sure what I wanted was right. Now uh . . . Question is I and from what some lore states. Warpstone is green. Now from my previous questions in short 'Your models, do whatever you want to them.' But I want to hear what veterans and others have to say!

Alright, thanks man! Was thinking of painting the warpstones Mephhistion Red! For Firah. So instead of Warplight. Warpfire

Just a cool story/idea to throw out!

I'm still learning the bends and curves to this hobby! I am enjoying these Stormfiends I got. The one with the Doom-Flayer gauntlet is just .. Badass!

There are many and varied opinions about this subject. I believe that the majority of them will fall somewhere in the "your models, do what you want" category. There are some, however, that may feel that stuff should be painted as canon.

As for myself, I believe that you can paint your models however you want, within reason. Pink Orcs, as stated above, would be dumb, to me. There's no reason for them to be pink. There's a biological reason for the green skin. There's reason for blue partial skin (warpaint), etc, but nothing for an all-over pink-skinned Ork. For example, I stray from the traditional patterns for my Eldar Aspects. I keep my Scorpions with green helmets and accessory parts, but their armor is primarily brown. My Banshees are blues and tan.

So, blue warpstone? Why the hell not? It's the warp. Anything can... and will... happen.

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

Gotcha, thank you for the answer. I just kind of don't want to spend money on paint again, you know? If I knew ahead of time when I bought the Mournfang, Ratskin and Agrax shade that I was getting war machines. XD I can't exactly get to my local store. Lack a car \o/ But I have a job and am working towards a car. And 10 bucks from GW for shipping is just stupid for a pot of paint. So you know . . . Gotta stick with that I have! Ratskin on Skaven is weird btw. Was hoping it be a slightly darker shade of color. Love the shade though. Makes them look nice and ratty. And dirty.

Do whatever you like; I painted my Screaming Bell's arch unrefined warpstone (almost black) going towards a refined (green) colour.

Skaven skin can be whatever colour you like too, well maybe not green I guess. That'd be weird. But anyway, they are multicoloured, not just their fur too. For ease of painting a horde army I think more tend to stick with one skin tone, the Ratskin, shade, layer, layer approach (with black or red eyes) but it's not the only way. About the only thing I think you'd want to steer clear of is making them all white, since that's a special colour in Skaven lore, meant to represent power and being blessed by the Horned Rat, like grey seers are. (well that's how I remember the bit I read in the Skaven books/wiki)

And just don't add green to the machine if you're going to use red It has a tendancy to look like Christmas colours. Unless I guess you want to do a Christmas Doomwheel/etc lmao great now I have visions of Santa being run over by a doom wheel arrrgh

I took the green warpstone to be unaligned chaotically (or possibly aligned to The Horned Rat), personally. Maybe red warpstone for KHORNE?

Also, does anyone know what was the orginal square base size for a Screaming Bell? They changed it to an oval, so want to know old square size.

Norn Iron

Besides the bog-standard eldritch green glow, I've seen mentions in the fluff of layers of warpdust in the northern wastes, shifting in colour. Also of warpstone giving off a 'black' glow. (I guess sucking in light) So you could say it's any colour and no colour!

The big plastic screaming bell was on a 60x100mm base, IIRC. The previous, smaller metal one was on a 50x100mm chariot base.

Thanks mate! Gotta order a square base for that then. I rather have square. If one thing has square. ALL has to be square. Otherwise i'll be eyetwitching.

Also gonna buy along with it the base for Warp Lighting, as well as Balthsar Gold and Mechanois Standard Grey for bronze/stone bits.

So about three or so hours ago, I bought the paint! Had to do quick look into those two again to be sure! Now I can really do some nice finishes on my Fiend's once I start painting them!

Also can you paint over an area that has been shaded with a base paint and be fine?
