Several of the Corsair psychic powers say that they can only be cast on a "unit with the Eldar Corsairs faction".

This may sound like a silly question, but what exactly counts as a unit with the Eldar Corsairs faction?

Specifically:

1) Does a unit from the Corsairs book still count as a Corsair unit if you attach characters from other factions?

2) If you attach a Corsair character to a non-corsair unit, does it count as a Corsair unit?

Yeah, when i read the small novel that is the Death Guard unit options and think about resolving the attacks from a melee-oriented min size death guard squad, the thing that springs to mind is "Accessible!"

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.

This is answered on page 166 of the rulebook where they state "While an Independent Character is part of a unit, he counts as part of the unit for all rules purposes..." Therefore the answer to #1 is 'Yes' and for #2 it is 'No'.

It only threatens to get confusing when you join two ICs together without benefit of a base unit.
