Anyone run one? I love the model and the rules seem great for the points cost. They cost so much (cash) not sure I would buy more than one,do they do well on their own? Thanks for any info on it.

They aren't very durable/pt. Another unit ruined by the vehicle rules.

That's what I was a worried about. They do get an invul. Though.......but only having one I would think it would draw a bunch of fire.

Ignore him: they are about as durrable as a contemptor (13 front armor, and they have an invuln), and if you don't give him the missiles, you can have him increase the invulns of models within 6 (?) inches. I like the dread, it does it's job well and it looks cool.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

That invuln won't save you from what's coming your way, just as cover doesn't save Rhinos. Too... many... glances...

None of that changes the fact that its durability/pt is poor. If we're just going with the rule of cool, why bother to ask others' opinions. I don't like the contemptor for the same reason: poor durability/pt.

yes well thats a low price considering hes the best ground to air flakk gun in the whole game that can bring down everything that isnt a forge flyer in one volley, while remaining useable at shooting ground targets unlike a tau MC or a flakk truck from marines or guardsman or quad guns, heck the imperial knights for all their splendor cant bring down a plane in a single blast. he might not be perfectly tough but he has the range on his side and if he bring down even one plane and causes a firey death coffin hes pretty much made his points back.

he can also one phase a coldstar commander because he breaks his instant death threshold and because he doesn't have drones when flying so he ever takes off, and hes dead which would be funny for a laugh, he takes off and then just vanishes in a hail of autocannon shells

DA army: 3500pts,
admech army: 600pts
ravenguard: 565 pts

Armour 13, invulnerable sv, easy to get in cover, good guns, cool model, hmmm 5/5 stars from me. not everything can be a titan or cost the pts of a conscript guardsman.

Also as this is a game the rule of cool and other fun based issues are very much important, this isnt a sport its a game and fun matters. Other wise just run solid flavor of the month min pts to max damage ratio unit end of story, as its dice game there no need to ask anyone can do the math to see if its pts officiant. <--- this makes me die on the in side.

How good AA are they? I've been wondering if I should pick one up as aircraft defense in the future for a greenwing army.

If only there were fliers worth shooting down anymore. Which there really aren't.

It isn't as fragile as Martel is making it out to be, but it still is pretty expensive for the durability.

That's all I was saying. It's not fragile. It's just an expensive vehicle in 7th. And we know what happens to those.

Yep as unlike dedicated AA units it can still accurately fire at ground targets when it needs to. Also, Martel, keep in mind skyfire also works against flying monstrous creatures, so it's useful against flyrants/harpies etc. Not to mention this all depends on your local meta/play style. Quite a lot of people use flyers at my local.
