So with my meta being crammed full of Tau, I was mulling the idea of creating a 5 man drop pod squad of WGT that are solely focused on killing vehicles and things that are terrible at assault. The idea is to give them a Thunder Hammer and a Wolf Claw each and abuse Drop Pod Assault.
I don't want to tailor an entire army for one army, so I figured this would be the best solution. What do you guys think?

I think that's way too many points in one unit. I'd at least have some without upgrades to take hits for the others. Maybe give them storm shields.

I thought about SS but I really don't want to lose attacks for a better invuln. The points are heavy, but the rest of my army is pretty simple. Its a standard MSU Grey Hunters.

the real issue with terminators is that deepstrike is the bane of their existance, you need to get them into an assault vehicle and then have them arrive in the enemies face, you then need to force them into a situation where you can start to roll a cc into another, this is very hard to do
if you want to deepstrike terminators you need to have a bigger threat then terminators when they arrive, this would mean things like TWC's or a knight, or a legion marine tank like a sicarian or going unbound and taking a fellblade chassis tank. i suppose a thunderhawk is another example. id then like to offer what solomonlike wisdom i have on tau.
with tau their entire army is creamy quoted in skyfire and interceptor because farsight enclave is a thing and why wouldnt you take crisis suits as troops and have the most broken troops choice in the game. and why wouldnt you also use this to get some of the most streamlined shooting teams in the fething game. tau are some of the most unfun armies to play against because they dont play by the rules of basically every other army. so how do you handle this, you box them up and in, you have to control a table and that can be hard.
if you want to play against tau and have a chance at beating them your going to want to play attack and defend where the tau need to attack, tau hate being offensive. their content sitting on their side of the table at most reaching out and touching the midfield in a casual visit, tau almost never get linebreaker as a result and breaking their defensive posture really destroys them, look at buying fortifications of your own and get them to come to you. this i feel is the best way to really kill tau and crush them as a space marine (especially a wolf) standing your ground and weathering a storm are things you excel at he cantn just expect to bring a pound of field guns and blast you off the objectives, and crisis suits dropping in will quickly find themselves in a shallow ditch.

sometimes yes, but as stated in a defensive stance they would get another target and then another, if they werent immedeately handled and that might not always be possible you could potentially get multiple cc's off, and besides this is space wolves everyones a cc unit, there the space marine of orks; they live to punch people and thats why their basic troops choices come in massive squad sizes

There's no reason to use LR + terminators over TWC, though. Ever. You've get MCs that come in squads. Use them.
Terminators almost always get handled. You'd be better off just dropping more grey hunters than trying to shoehorn in Wolf Guard.
Terminators are almost universally awful, so anything other than naked terminators seems like it's just compounding a waste of points.

You can run Ajax shield brothers. They're not half bad with t5 and counter-attacks. Don't expect them to be better than TWC in most cases but they're still good enough to be used in regular games.
Unfortunately, it's just the case when cool models like terminators get outshadowed by derpy models like thundercat thunderwolf cavalry that have significantly better rules for no significant point increase.

Losing one attack is worth the survivability. Nobody runs Tactical Terminators for a reason.

Put five in a drop pod.
Give them an assault cannon, 2 combimelta, one guy with chain fist, one or two with shield and probably 2 with dual claws (it ads up, trust me .
Great all around squad, but you really need to be shooty once you drop.
You dont really need a full squad of hammers.
Knock out some vehicle with melta and keep the shields towards enemy.
It dont need to cost an awfull lot and can easily make a serious thorne in the enemys side.
An other alternative is perhaps 2 deepstriking lone wolfs in terminator armour combimelta/chainfist.

You have obviously not played much against enclaves forces, we tend to go as aggressive as it gets (Heck most games I initiate an assault) letting them do their thing unchallenged is a path to pain.
I get linebreaker more often than not, once fusion teams finished their jobs they just run around capping objectives and breaking lines.
Playing on the defence in NOT a good plan, tau can and will push a bit forward and use superior range to force you out of your defensive stance.
You need to have a double strategy, a main force that pushes forward and takes the lead, and a small artillery force that will punish over clumping and hiding. Combined arms people.
