Orks have dirt cheap troops in gretchins. The benefits for cad and allied are the same it's really about whether you really want 6 HS or FA slots as opposed to 4, or 4 HQs as opposed to 3.
If you find yourself really wanting more? Add a Gretchin squad. Nbd.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

Thanks for moving it. Wasn't sure whether or not it should go in YMDC or Tactics.

That isn't an Allied detachment, that is just a second detachment (since you have the two troops anyway)
I always just go two CAD Detachments for 6 heavy support slots filled with 5 Lootaz.
Then I take cheap HQs, Big Mek with Finkin Kap, wyrd Boyz, and lots of trukks.

You can't take an allied detachment that's the same faction as the primary detachment.

Ah, that's right. It's a restriction on an allied detachment-you need to go two cads.
But again that's nbd if you take 10 man Gretchin squads.
I wouldn't do that though unless you wanna get dem slots.
Basically start with a cad and if you're really craving more of one particular slot consider dual cad.
My dual cad ork list is extreme MSU.
Cad 1: 2x Trukk boyz squads
2x Weirdboyz
3x tankbustas in trukks
3x single Deffcoptas
3x single Lobbas
Cad 2: 2x Trukk boyz squads
2x Weirdboyz
1x MANz bomb
3x single Deffcoptas
3x single Lobbas.

Mega Armoured Nobz (MANz) in a Trukk I would presume. I like the term "MANz Missile" though - you point it at a target turn 1 and Cruising Speed + Flat Out the Trukk 24" across the table, then get another 6+6" disembark for a Turn 2 assault.
Basically a high speed, long range anti-Troop 'missile'. Just you resolve the damage in the assault phase rather than the shooting phase.

Sorry. MANz bomb or MANz missile as poster above mentioned is 3x mega-armor nobs, 1 with Killsaws, 1 with Bosspole. It's a super effective way of threatening heavy armor and forcing the enemy of dealing with the threat while you get everything in position to claim all the objectives and turtle up.

MANz missile is just a squad of meganobz in a truck. Usually, it's just 3 meganobz. Gear can vary. Some people also recommend at least one combi-skorcha.

The fact that a nob with power Klaw costs 45 points and a meganob with powerklaw costs 40 should say all that needs to be said about regular Nobz.

You can always get some nobs cheap and add random armor bits. I made mine out of paper.
