Hi guys. So basically I'm having one of those moments where I can't think what to do.

I have a Command Squad to build for my Crimson Fists, and I'm trying to work out what's best to give the three standard veterans. I'm putting an Apothecary and a Champion in there, along with a Company Standard.

These are the guys who the Command Squad would accompany, either one at a time, or the Chaplain + one Captain;

(Sorry for the massive pictures! )

There are too many things going through my head at once when thinking about how to equip the squad.. The two Captains are mid-range/combat units. The Chaplain, Apothecary and Champion are short range combat units. I use Imperial Fists chapter tactics, so bolters are a bonus with their re-rolls. Lots of weapon choices for the veterans etc. etc. etc.

Now, my guess is that these guys would be better suited to sit mid-table and/or get closer to the enemy and engage in combat? They're no 'death star' to go charging head-on into the enemy, but they can handle themselves. They can shoot, and they can charge. They'll also be alright if they get charged. Maybe sit them mid-table and hold onto an objective/capture objectives? Am I chatting or does this sound about right?

So, I was thinking of equipping the three guys as follows;
Veteran 1: Storm bolter + power fist. (Re-roll 1's with chapter tactics, extra close combat smasher. Though would another close combat guy be overkill?)
Veteran 2: Combi-flamer. (Again, re-roll 1's. Flamer for those close range moments)
Veteran 3: Company Standard + combi-flamer. (Again, re-roll 1's, and a flamer for close range)

Would the first guy and the combi-flamers be a waste? Should I be making better use of special weapons? This is where I'm stuck.

Transport available: Razorback. Drop Pod. Land Raider Crusader.

So the question is, if you had all this to consider, what would you do? (Also, I just got a friend of mine into the hobby, and he's likely to play Tau.)

Thank you in advance for any help and feedback. It will be much appreciated! And I'm sorry for such a massive post...

Honestly, you would equip them like any other command squad. Take Bikes, a couple of Storm Shields or four, an Apothecary, and 4 Grav Guns.

The only problem with that, is that none of the characters pictured are on bikes. That's why I was leaning more towards the Razorback or Drop Pod.

Drop Pod with Plasma Guns then. Everything else still applies.

So you'd equip the standard bearer and the two remaining guys all with plasma guns?

If they're not on Bikes? Plasma. If they are? Grav.

Just avoid purchasing the Champion.

I know you want to make the most out of the Bolter Drill, but taking that into account, the Plasma or Grav still gets you further.

I actually have a Command Squad for my Crimson Fists, and it is basically exactly like everyone says. 4x Plasmagun Veterans and an Apothecary. I run mine in a Rhino, but that is purely for fluff reasons, and it basically has a Twin-Linked Plasma turret due to fire points.
