Anyone have one of these models and can tell me if It could be converted to an ultramarine Chaplin with out to much trouble? Can you remove the wings and is there any other BA marks that can not be removed easily ? I want a chaplain with a Jump pack and this looks like a great model. Thanks!

The Shoulder Pads can be switched out. For the right shoulder pad (Crozium one), part of it slots into the wing, so you may want to keep that one (that one has Death Company patterns) or do a bit of fiddling with a UM pad to get it to fit.

The Pistol needs replacing as it's an Inferno Pistol but not much conversion will have to be done.

Crozium needs the Blood Drops filed off but should be fine.

The Jump Pack itself needs the wings to be attached first, but it looks like a regular Jump Pack will fit in nicely (follows usual SM torso/backpack assembly). I guess you could clip off the wings and have the 30k Jump Pack version, but I think it would look a bit messy and some green stuff to neaten it up. If you end up using a 40k Jump Pack, you could probably get away with two UM shoulder pads, but dry fit first.

Head just needs the Blood Drop filed off, otherwise slots in fine (like a pin).

Legs and main body don't need much if any work. The chapter symbol is a transfer, so stick an UM one on. There is a blood drop on the torso (you can see it in the picture) which might be hard to remove without messing up the model, so I would be tempted to keep it in, maybe paint it blue and a small UM symbol, or a white dot. Right knee pad can't be removed easily, you might have to keep it in.

Does the Jump Pack have any BA iconography on it?

I'm thinking about asking a local BA player if he wants to get a second one of them and sell me the Jump Pack so I can use it as the Raven Guard relic pack.

Are you talking about the new Blood Angels Chaplain that has an Inferno Pistol? Because if so, he is going to take a humongous amount of work to make it look decent as an Ultramarine. For starters, the armor is not a pattern UM use. The molded sinew will be a big pain to convert, but I suppose if you dremeled or filed it down and filled with green stuff to match the regular armor. Then you have to get rid of the BA symbols molded into it. Not an impossible task, but not easy by any means. There is also a molded Death Company symbol on the right knee that will need filling.

For the Jump Pack, I would probably cut the wings off. However, since the aquila is a symbol of the Space Marines as a whole, you could actually take a different route and mold some aquila heads on the top of the Jump pack, making the Jump pack a giant aquila symbol. Paint it good.

Like Frozocone said, you can just just replace the pauldrons. I would suggest getting an Ultramarines Upgrade Pack and using one of the more ornate pauldrons from that. Of you have a Sternguard or Vanguard Veteran kit, look for a pauldron that matches the one with the Chapter symbol.

Get a nice pistol (VV have pretty nice ones) to replace the Inferno Pistol.

It will take a tremendous amount of work, but the end result could be pretty cool.

It does not appear to have any BA symbols on it. It would DEFINITELY make a nice RG Jump Pack.

The only downside is that I then need to source a nice set of legs, torso, and twin lightning claws.

Because really, why would you not give a Captain the matched Lightning Claws and a really dynamic hunting pose?

the Sergeant legs(the ones with the leather tabard) from the Vanguard Veterans pack are pretty nice. Also includes some nice lightning claws. You would still need to find a good torso though.

You're talking to someone who can run the Shadowstrike Kill-Team right now, I know the Vanguard Veteran box.

The issue is: do I want to buy another box or not just to make a kickin' Captain...

You could always just get the legs you want off eBay. Whenever I have a conversion I want to do, I just get the bits I need anymore. Personally, I don't think the kit in question from this thread would be a good choice, as the conversion work would be way too involved.
