So I live in Oakton Virginia, and am looking for table top players nearby. Let me qualify this by saying that I know there are a couple stores relatively near me, but I am looking for something in particular. I really want to get back into 40k and Fantasy (as well as some other table top games), but I am trying to avoid the 'power gamer' environment. I played Warmachine pretty extensively lately and the endless focus on the optimum builds and min-maxing really drove me away from the game. Sadly I know 40k and Fantasy was at much the same state when I started to pick up Warmachine, and I have little hope that it has improved since. So I was hoping I might stumble upon a club, or group nearby or if people know of a shop that has a more extensive 'casual/friendly/thematic' minded group of players. A group where "Why would you field that?" isn't the number one statement but rather "Oh, that's cool" is. It might be a futile hope, but that's really what I need to be able to get back to enjoying the hobby that I've invested a lot into.

I can't help you with 40k or Fantasy, but we play a lot of games both out of Huzzah Hobbies in Ashburn and my place in Sterling. If you want to check out Kings of War, most Fantasy armies translate to that quite well. We also play DZC, a bunch of historicals, and random board games. Let me know if you're interested.

All the Emperor requires of us guardsmen is that we hold the line, and die fighting. Its what we do best. We die standing.

Might be a drive, but check out Beer and Bolters in Frederick if you are 21+. Good mix of players.

Just discovered Huzzah Hobbies form this thread, definitely will swing down for some Kings of War games when I finish my army.

I actually run a monthly Warhammer night in my basement that fullmetaljacket and his friends come up to in Annapolis. We are pretty casual in our lists and game play, and I have three tables set up. We are always looking for more players!

I used to play at the Game Parlor store in Chantilly, VA. Not sure how much warhammer is going on there now, but there are certainly a lot of people who have armies that frequent that store.

Thanks for the update. Sad commentary on the fate of brick and mortar stores (that was a store that lasted 24 years).

I went to Huzzah Hobbies with a friend a few weekends ago and it seemed legit. They had a good selection and a decent amount of gaming space.
