Ok, lets say these two were in a bar and the marine thinks the eternal is looking at him in a funny way. Who would win in a brawl? Lets say no weapons but armour allowed in the first round, and unarmoured in round 2.

Batman. Batman always wins.

But seriously, it'll be the catachan who wins. Because neither of the other two will see the tripwire.

Stormcast Eternal, of course. Because magic first, and second he can come back once reforged.

Marine in round 1.

If they're armoured, you can only inflict blunt-force or shear trauma without weaponry.

Stormcast are described as being supernaturally tough but they still bleed etc.
Marines' biology actively heals damage to prevent it being life threatening.
So inflict an open fracture or internal bleeding on a marine, it'll hurt but he can grit his teeth and carry on.
Same injuries on a Stormcast, he'll bleed out. But he gets to come back, so...

Yeah, I love the Stormcast but I have to give it to the space marine.

It's like batman vs captain America or dragonborn vs chosen undead. The ruthless guy with more tricks up his sleeve is gonna win.

At least the Stormcast can come back so it's not a big loss.

I would lean heavily towards the "eternal" part of stormcast eternal. so far I havent seen anything implying there is really a man under that golden plate. but then i dont like the sigmarines....which makes me think...they are the same creature, marine and sigmarine,. so its beating oneself up.

Then you really haven't read much.

space marine can be killed by a walking eggplant with a barely sharpened hunk of metal. stormcast can be irritated, slightly delayed, but not truly killed.

Meh, I use the ruling of Screw attack's death battle. The first death is what counts despite the fighter being able to resurrect himself.

So the space marine wins.

Ah... a trick question.

They're both the same thing

It's a draw!
;-)

Currently most played: Silent Death, Mars Code Aurora, Battletech, Warcrow and Infinity.

Here's how I see it:

The space marine stands up, and gets into a defensive pose, ready to strike.

Seven Stormcast Eternals step up, and get ready to strike.

The marine says, "Wait, hold on, you have too many guys."

and the Stormcast go, "I think this is still pretty balanced, you're generally assumed to be more powerful. Acid spit and all. So, this should provide a better duel."

and the marine goes, "No, it's just supposed to be a one on one duel. That's the kind of match I wanted to have."

and the Stormcast goes, "Well, of course you want to balance on wounds, you have a better armor save than I do."

and the marine goes, "But you have two wounds!"

and the bartender interrupts them, and says, "I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you boys to take this to an acceptable comp system."

Ahaha, exhalted Oggthrok!

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Hah yeah the differing stat systems make a tabletop duel tricky. If a stormcast had 40k style stats what would they be?

Pretty soon, people that don't like AoS are going to replace vegans, atheists and marathon-runners as the go-to for jokes like "How can you tell if someone is X? Don't worry, you won't have to ask..."

take into account those of us who actually like playing the game, but have adopted a "gallows humor" about it as a whole. While I hate the fluff, I do enjoy sitting down and having a few games of AoS in the afternoon.

In the Casualty section of a Blood Bowl dugout

The Stormcast Eternal manages to sever one of the Space Marine's limbs... only to tell him that he is his father.
