Got back from the Throne of Skulls: Rotwater Blight event at GW HQ late last night, and have penned a few words about my time there. This is quite a long one with lots of piccies, but you can get the full scoop here!

Runnin up on ya.

Congrats on the win

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Omg you won the Throne of Skulls!?!? Amazing, Matt! Well from all the great content you add here, I am in no doubt you would be a great opponent (and I hope to travel to Swindon one day to play you!)

Thanks for the report. I aim to be at the next Throne of Skulls, and hopefully at another event before that :-)

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Nice read, thanks for sharing. Great pics as well.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Bugman's did a nice breakfast bap... I do miss it. Great read and I'm glad the AoS Throne of Skull events are fun. I was worried they'd stop doing them.

Very nice!,grats on the win!

Curious, was there any sort of composition for the armies?

Model number limit,wounds?

The armies were all looking fairly well balanced size wise.

Well, I like the above pic. I would be happy to attend a tourney at Warhammer World in the future. Looks pretty decent. We had a similar location in Düsseldorf, the German GW head quarter.

Not really - we were to bring 60-odd models, and work out what to take or not to take with our opponent. In practice, if you did not bring anything too nasty, you would probably be using your whole force.

Congratulations for the win, Matt;

I like what they've done in this event. The way to reward players with a good behaviour and not just the ones who win at all cost is, IMHO, the right thing to do in the spirit of the game (at least, as AoS was designed).

I really hope they will keep it for the next to come. I believe they're on the right tracks here.

Maybe I should try to come to play one day...hmmm, how much does it cost to come to Nottingham from Belgium?

Drive

I have done the trip myself (actually, went all the way to Essen) and it is not as long as you might think. In fact, our US cousins might scoff at the distance

Top write up.

I'd love to attend one in the future but don't drive which pretty much rules me out.

Great report Matt, and huge props on winning the thing, particularly with an army that looks like an army and not just a collection of big things

Hold up there mate, you attended a GW run event using AoS rules and scenarios and seemed to have a really enjoyable time?
Delete your account and burn those models, no one here believes you.....

Did they use any sort of force balacing mechanisms at all? Or did you just bring what you wanted?

No, they just suggested 60 models, everything else down to the players...

It looks like it was well organised and a lot of fun. GW have got their act together with these game weekends.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Two quick questions:
1. How did they handle summoning at the event?
2. How did they handle piling in?

1. No restrictions (none needed). You'll see summoning happened in the games I played.

2. How do you mean? Move up to 3" towards closest enemy.
