So I have a 750pt list of a knight errant and a daemon prince of nurgle:
Daemon prince -
-3ML
-Nurgle
-Wings
-Black mace
-Dimensional key
-Gift of mutation
-Spell familiar
Vanilla errant
(No it isn't a chaos knight, yes I know it is come the apocalypse, yes I know it is low model count)
So far I have played four games:
Imperial guard 7-0 to me
Ork 5-2 to me
Necron 2-2, 5-0 to me (rematch)
I am pretty comfortable with this list and I have always played with small model count armies.
However I am set to have a game with a taudar player, someone I played before with a different list and he wiped the floor with me. I am unsure of his full list but I know he will be taking a wraithknight, a ghostkeel, a bunch of pathfinders and some bull about hitting rear armour.
I am not really that experienced against tau or eldar so how should I play this?

If you're bringing an Imperial Knight to a 750 point game, I don't exactly have much sympathy for you. I think your opponent is more than allowed to use a Wraithknight or the Optimized Stealth Cadre at that points level.
The game is simply not balanced at that points level, especially when you bring in superheavies. If you want more balance, try playing at 1500 points or more.

I think at 750 you can build some fair and balanced armies but I do agree that bringing SHs and LoWs in at that level will cause series mismatches.
What type of games are you playing OP? Surely with something like obj maelstorm you cannot possibly be outscoring your opponents?
Hell, even a basic 5 obj EW mission is going to be rough to take. Is it all KPs?

chaos knight errant is same price. Why in the world would you take an Imperial knight?
Check it out.
(280) DP- Nurgle, ML 2, Mace and Wings.
(370) Chaos Knight Erant
(100) 2 units of cultist
Total 750
All obsec, so you can maybe do something in a small obj game, and you can run cultist at the pathfinders and force him to waste turns shooting them.
or
DP- Nurgle, Flight, 2x Greater Rewards, 1x Lesser Reward, ML 2
Chaos Knight Errant
2x Nurglings
Same as above but you get 2 Greater and a Lesser Reward instead of Black Mace. Or a Portal Glyph for models, and two lesser. I like this a little better since GR can make a really hard to drop DP.
Since both have a chaos knight no allies issues. Sit the DP in ruins and summon + jink your way forward while the knight hugs cover and shoots. If you want to drop the lesser reward and take a Paladin instead of an Errant I think you should

I thought there was a rule in the BRB that says you cannot have a model that is more than 25% of the total cost of your army... or am I mistaken (ITC Rule)?

Yeh that rule doesn't exist in the actual BRB. I'd say it's a good balancing mechanic though.

Lords of War are restricted to 25 or 50% I think. I don't believe that's a model restriction.

The 25% rule for LoW is only in 30k. (Plus you can't take LoW <2000pts)

Ok, to answer some questions:
Why not a chaos knight?
No forgeworld allowed.
Don't you think this ruins the fluff?
In the little tourny we are playing I have justified it by saying it is a chaos knight in all senses but rules, as it is painted as a chaos knight. Also I have some fluffy backstory about it hating all things and killing all in it's sight, but despite this the DP is intriged by the knight so follows him around.
Why the low model count? What about objective games?
As I have said I hate large amounts of models and prefer smaller armies. I hope to win objective games by having my DP slaughter whatever unit is on the objective, this seems to work well.
How can you sleep at night with a list like this?
As I have said I love small model armies and this was a way to reduce down to two models. Yes I may have a superheavy, but so do some of the other players in the tournament.
I hope this has cleared some stuff up but if you are still hoping that I will get hammered again and go kill myself: thanks for the advice.

On his turn he will ask you: which side is your shield on?
You will say: front.
He says "great, activating Wall of Mirrors".
He will then hit your rear armor with his Formation of Stealth suits and GhostKeels. if you protest, you will be wrong. So don't protest.
To avoid this, you must press into him as quickly as you are able and kill him. Dominate the middle of the field quickly.
Interesting note: if he's in your side arc, he can still do this, so you may wish to expose the side arc and put the shield BEHIND you. This forces him to fire at side armor or rear which is shielded. Hehehe. It is as good a solution as you can hope for but it relies on him being in the side arc..

When looking at the wording to the rules doesn't it say the formation is ALWAYS assumed to be shooting the rear armour? When we last played he had to always shoot my rear armour, so I just put my shield on my rear.
Also last time I tried to push my knight foward his wraith wrecked me before I could do any damage.

Nope. It MAY network them. Doesn't have to.
As for being midfield... I know of only one answer to Wraith KNights and its Concussion and some good melee. So take a Grv gun and use it to get Concussion on the Wraith Knight.

Only if they actually activate the ability. If they do not activate the Wall of Mirrors ability, they hit whatever side they normally would. If they activate the Wall of Mirrors, then they ht rear armor.

How the hell did the IG player lose to you? At 700pts they can bring like 40 scoring units.

Considering its a tournament that allows Unbound anyway i don't think the player base there is very skilled

His army was two leman russ vanquishers, a drop pod with melta team, a valkyrie and a blob squadvof guard. He is a far more experienced player than me but his list is designed to destroy vehicle lists, also he rolled 3 ones and a two when trying to hit my knight on the first turn (with his battlecannons and lascannons).
