E-mail KR direct. I've normally had a prompt respose to queries.

I bought several lots that were supposed to fit my large GW cases, but when they arrived they were not the correct size.
I contacted them to let them know they had sent me the wrong ones, they were adamant that they were the correct ones and would not help me out.
I ended up cutting them to fit.
Like the above chap says best speak to them direct just to double check and get their word on any queries before you order.

Do people pretty much just order KR direct from them? I was looking for another source but couldn't find one.

I ordered my first batch through my FLGS, to use up some store credit. The guy who ran it was not happy with the effort it took to get the order in and straight. Second order I went direct with KR, and besides some shipping delays (not their fault) everything went fine.
Overall I've been quite happy with both the service and products from KR, and heartily recommend them.

I just wish there was an easier way to figure out what to get from them... I have some warmachine models that I'd like to get a case for, but really don't know what layout to get and find their website baffling.

Email them what you have and the base/height dimensions, and they'll usually get back to you within 1-3 days.

Yep, just that. I say "they" but I'm pretty sure it's all one devoted guy answering most of the time.
If after that you want a case but have trouble using the site, they can also custom invoice you directly.

Thanks for your honest response, I will keep this in mind when I open up my own web store (very soon).
Out of curiosity what course of action would you have preferred to happen in this situation?
Cheers.

I always order directly from KR. I use a lot of custom foam, and I usually wait until I can fill a cardboard case of foam. Also, if you can wait longer, there will be an offer along soon enough. 2-for-1 offers are common.
Whenever I get into problems with measurements, I take photos with a tape measure held against both items.
Do that with the box, and the foam.
If GW has change their dimensions, KR might not know.
As for how it should be handled, you should be able to return it if it is wrong. That depends on how long since it arrived.
If there is no fault, I would expect credit, not cash, unless there's more to it.
Oh, and if there's any reason to suspect problems with an item, and if there is no postage to pay, buy one and check that first.

Try their AutoFill feature - http://www.krmulticase.com/autofill/autofill.aspx Just tell it what you have and it should suggest the right bits.

If it were me doing the selling, I would have asked for the goods to be returned and offer a full refund or replacements if possible.
Customer service is key when running a retail business and you may have to take an occaissional hit to maintain high standards.

In regards to you having problems with the measurements, are you able to elaborate more on this?
How do you find this process? Tedious, inefficient etc? Is there a better solution?

What would be the cut off point that you'd find acceptable to return the items?
Are you referring to if the order is incomplete? Can you also elaborate this part?
Thanks for your honest feedback

I agree with you on all points, the hit on margin is minute compared to insuring the longevity of the customer relationship. I will definitely take cognizance on them as key aspects.
Thanks for your honest feedback

As long as the photos are clear, it works well.
If it is described well enough (where to measure from and to), there's little to go wrong.

I would read up on the Distance Selling regulations, which state 14 days, I think.

What I am trying to extrapolate from this scenario is where you are having a problem when purchasing the tray. You have the dimensions of the model and the tray yet during the process there is an issue which hinders your customer experience.
Skinnereal wrote:I would read up on the Distance Selling regulations, which state 14 days, I think.
I understand the DSR but I want to get the viewpoint of what you as the customer feels and experiences when going through the process and what your expectations are. I believe it is quintessential the better I understand the customer wants and needs (along with the psychological aspects) the better your buying experience will be.
To clarify I don’t work for KR but this has been an issue I’ve read numerously and I am trying to identify where the problems are and ensure this won’t happen with my webstore to ensure customers get a better buying experience.

That makes sense Tyron - although it might be nice to have a separate thread for it since you're talking about another product rather than KR.

I am merely using KR as a metric to compare with as we both do the same thing. I would be using KR, BF and Feldherr as comparisons. Again I am not knocking on their products but I am just after the customer's side of the process.
I have never seen any representative from the named companies discussing these issues with the community so I will have a think over about starting a separate thread. I hope the community would be willing to give input.
I will PM you this week the opening post to ensure it meets Dakka's rules

In answer to the OP - GW changed their standard foam size when they brought out the Skirmish & Crusader cases, so as a general rule companies who advertise GW-size foam are still advertising for the old army cases.
A rough guide to measurements:
Old GW is 360x265mm
GW Skirmish is 273x210mm
GW Crusader is 438x267mm
I know that Battlefoam have started making foam trays for the new GW cases, although I don't think the trays have made it to the UK yet. You can order them from the US and the UK office will send them out, but there's a postage premium to pay.
I've not heard of KR doing trays in the new sizes yet, but I bet if you emailed them that they could cut some for you. I'd be surprised if they didn't already have something in the pipeline.

I recalled that KR (who has been known to post here) had something to say about the new GW cases when they came out:
KR wrote:
Quite amazingly GW have decided to use the same size footprint as KR half size trays. The insert tray is 255 x 190 x 50mm, so any 1/2 depth 1/2 width KR tray will fit in there. The larger outside wall of the bottom tray is 220 x 280. Interestingly the small GW Skirmish case holds 3 trays (3/4 depth) the GW Battle case holds 7 of them (effectively 7/8 of a standard KR Unit), and the GW battle case holds 1.5 KR Units of trays, the same as the new KRX case we have just launched.
and yes it did make us smile when we picked them up :-)

For what it’s worth, when I tried to use the autofill feature to check my own work, it was not as efficient as I had been. Still a good start. This was when they has just launched it, so it may be better now.
When I was filling out my cases, I did my own math, and then sent them an e-mail to double check. Quick response, with a few suggestions to optimize the first time.

I use Autofill to point out which kinds of tray I need.
I then go back and make it fit what I want.
So, use it as a guide, not as a personal shopper.
