Hey guys, I'm starting a Militarum Tempestus force and need a clarification on the above rules. The rulebook says that only vehicles with the Tank description can ram and tank shock; however at the same time, the Scion codex says that Taurox Primes can take a Dozer Blade that lets their front armor be counted as 1 higher when ramming, but they're only classified as a Fast Vehicle...am I missing something here? Can they Tank Shock/Ram or not?

Dozer Blades don't only give +1 for ramming. They also let you reroll dangerous terrain

Why not just give it an ability that allows it to do that then? Instead of making the player pay for +1 strength on an attack mode they can't use?

That's just stupid. Now, if the dozer blade works when ramming OR BEING RAMMED, I kinda get it...

Which they already can do via the 'All-terrain APC' rule The upgrade literally does nothing for the Taurox other than eat up points. Its there for completeness sake.

So, does that mean Taurox Primes can't Ram or Tank Shock?

Do they have 'Tank' listed in their Unit Type?

They cannot ram or tank shock, but they can be rammed and the dozer blade would make the ramming vehicle take a str 6 hit if it rammed the front of a taurox. Oh boy.

Dozer blades only give +1 armour when ramming, not when being rammed.
Oh, and the strength is half the armour, rounded up (plus modifiers for size). An AV 11 taurox would therefore do a strength 6 hit anyway. The dozer blade therefore has no effect other than to increase the size and cost of the vehicle.

At the OP:
Imperial Guard trucks and "tanks" (vehicles with the "Tank" rule, including AA vehicles, self propelled artillery, and IFVs) have access to the same list of upgrades. These will be copied and pasted across blindly, regardless of whether these upgrades make tactical sense (or any sense at all) on that particular vehicle. It's just GW being GW.

Dozer blades give the target of the ram +1 as well. Only tanks (and other vehicles with special rules that permit it) can ram, but when contact is made, both vehicles are performing a ram.

I can understand the reasoning, but I'm not convinced. If Alex hits Bob in the face, I'm going to say that Alex hit Bob in the face. I'm not going to say that Bob used his face to hit Alex's hand.
Nowhere in the rules for Ramming is there any implication that the target vehicle is ramming back. On the contrary:
BRB, on ramming, wrote:Each vehicle immediately suffers a hit against the armour facing where the other vehicle has impacted (so the Ramming vehicle always uses its front armour).
And so the target being rammed is not "the Ramming vehicle". The dozer blade gives +1 AV "when ramming".
