Sorry, I know there have been threads on this before, but I couldn't find an answer (maybe there isn't one).

Iron Hands Chapter Tactics include: "Iron Hands characters and vehicles have the It Will Not Die special rule...". I can't find a single vehicle with the Chapter Tactics special rule.

As I see it, RAW means the part about vehicles having IWND is pointless, as no vehicles can benefit from it.

HIWPI - if it's an IH vehicle, in an IH detachment, it still benefits.

Have I missed anything, and/or is there a consensus on how this is played?

Dark Angels/Deathwing - just getting started!
Space Marines - Stark Crusaders 4500pts/PL244 (2700pts painted)
Eldar - Biel Tan 2000pts
Space Wolves 1500pts

Dreadnaughts have Chapter Tactics and are the only beneficiaries of this rule. Other IH vehicles do not get IWND.

Dammit - missed the dreads. That'll explain it then!

I think I prefer that anyway - I don't play competitively and I think my buddies will be off enough at FNP all over the place, without all vehicles getting IWND as well!

Or, more specifically, other vehicles are not Iron Hands vehicles, since the Chapter nametag only applies to units that have the corresponding Chapter Tactics.

It's a bit of a hole in the current rules, as it makes a mess of Chapter-specific formations.

Huh? Formations work just fine as far as I know. All it does is not give Vehicles outside of Dreadnoughts (just the three from the Codex!) the benefit of Chapter Tactics. Which in the case of IH seems pretty stupid, but that's RAW. RAI was probably different, and I'd allow it in a game vs me - I'm not playing CT:IH with my own marines anyway.

Unless said IH player also brings the 1+ FnP - Then I'd let him decide: RAW for both or RAI for both.

The problem is that Chapter Tactics defines the Chapter.

So anything that requires all of your units to be drawn from the same Chapter will only allow you to use units with Chapter Tactics corresponding to that Chapter.

So no vehicles other than Dreadnoughts...

I'm sure ITC rulings said it applies to non-Chapter Tactic vehicles, but that is just ITC

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...

Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

Because there are a lot of Codex Marines players who answered the poll, probably.

I believe many of their decisions are based on popularity rather than based on RAW or RAI. And that's fine for a House Ruling Tournament group. It's their job to attract players, and you do so with popular rules.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

The last version of the codex had the specific line: "even though vehicles do not have the Chapter Tactics special rule", which was removed in the current version.
