Neither, both of these look terrible to play against. Don't get me wrong, props for making two competitive lists, but they just seem like the cheesiest lists in the world.

I'd say the nids as they're cooler in my opinion, though Necrons are pretty sweet too. The nice thing about Nids right now is that flying units aren't as popular so your big bugs are more like to survive. Not to mention Tau aren't running Skyrays as often anymore so that's a plus too.

Thats true but my nids cant really beat taus since there is no AP on my guns haha I takes me 5 flyrants to take down 1 riptide and there are not even sure to take it down. Taus might be an issue no?

It kind of depends what you expect, since Tau lists like Frankie's that go heavy on the Riptides and Stormsurges kind of need to table people to win, so as long as you destroy their marker sources they'll have some trouble bringing down your fliers. Not to mention they don't have that much Obsec stuff if any.
Though really Tau is basically everyone's bad match up, and while the Wraiths are nice can't your Mawlocs lock things up in combat just as well as them? Part of the problem is I'm not as familiar with Nids.

I understand it's a competitive list, but still, I don't think I've ever seen a Necrons list not include the word 'Decurion'.
Just for once, I'd love to see one without.
But of course, it's your choice completely.

I think your Tyranids list is a bit better than your necron list in terms of viability. I agree that Tau can be a bad match up, especially if they spam Tides/Surges (though mawlocs can help), but I don't think anyone is strong against Tau right now.
The necrons, as a codex, could probably be made to be more competitive than the Tyranids. Do you have a large collection for Necrons?

The problem isn't so much that Decurion is that op, it's more that there's no real reason to not take it unless you're doing something truly off the wall. Unlike the Tau stuff, it pretty much gives you exactly what you want and gives it extra benefit, so you're never really making a choice, which is kind of bad.
CShaffer wrote:I love how he states he is going to a tournament and people are giving his list crap...
Who cares what it's for? A list is a list, and some people like playing strong competitive lists even for fun, it's weird to assume they're actively trying to ruin the fun of others.
Honestly, I don't like playing units with bad stats, no matter how much I like their fluff. Sure, I love the idea of Vespids, and their models, but even if I field them in a casual game, I'll always feel underwhelmed by them as they're kind of a mess, with very little justifiable benefit, so despite having that fluff element, it'll still make me not like them while playing the game, as that's what I'm there for, to play the game. That's not to say I wouldn't play mediocre units, as there's an element of fun to bringing weird things to even a tournament and trying to make it work, as long as it's good enough to be somewhat competitive, or even reasonably competitive, such as the Razorshark formation for Tau, since the math actually shows it's pretty solid. The issue is more that when you go from tuned lists, that are constantly doing a ton of things, to low power lists that have a very confused state, they feel sluggish and clunky... Heck I remember testing home brew decks in MtG and feeling them to be clunky for the first few dozen games until the glaring bugs were worked out and they at least functioned in a somewhat stable manner.
So yea, there's nothing wrong with liking weaker lists, or powerful lists, no one should assume their opponents are playing one way or another unless it's stated somewhere. It's just bad behavior to say "Oh, you're not in a tournament and playing a tournament list? You must be beating up children in an alley way." because in reality they could just be playing with tournament players even in their for fun games, because that's what some people enjoy... I certainly do.

As a Tau player, yea this is true. Tau is that army right now, it's everybody's bad match up but it also doesn't really have good match ups itself, it just is kind of consistent. It's hard to explain, but basically it's a misery match up that is actually winnable for everyone but it's always uphill and small things can really make everything awful.

How much time do you have? Nothing like expanding a collection for good reason, such as an event D:

I feel like Tau are the colour White in Magic. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1_zDvpB23Q 11:59 in)
They're powerful, they're annoying, they feel too good if things go right, but they're not even that good. That's not to say they're not amazing, because frankly they don't need anything and the ITC still needs to clarify some balance issues on them, it's just that they're one of those armies that can just always win or never win given the game itself, whereas other top tier armies are more consistent in what they do, so they're probably better picks.
Actually in that video I linked, go to 8:40 and listen to the talk about Flash, that is literally Tau. It's that 55-45 army that is everyone's bad match up but probably not how you win a long term event.
