So just wanted to get this idea i have for a mission type...scenario...not sure what it is, but here it goes.

“Rock paper dakka” is a set of 3 separate games. Each game is either 500 points per player or 1000 points per player. The goal of these 3 games is to get best 2 out of 3 victories to determine a final winner.
The lists players bring are determined before they start “rock paper dakka”, the only list changes allowed is for the result of “reinforcements” in the 3rd and final game (read further below).
On the occasion when the first two games are won by the same person, the 3rd game is still played to allow the player, who lost the 1st two games, a chance to win the 3rd game. If he can win the 3rd game he essentially prevents the other players victory via a stalemate of sorts.
If a player wins the 1st two games, and if either of those victories were a landslide victory or tableing, then the other player gains the “reinforcements” special rule. “Reinforcements” is an additional points boost for the players list in the 3rd game. The points are one half of the games points limitations (if the game was a 1000pt game then the player is given 500 additional points). These points can only be spent on troop choices and fortifications and are essentially an unbound portion of the players list (this adjustment to the list should be made before both players present their lists and field their armies for the 3rd game).
Players are not limited to a single army codex for all 3 games, they can take allies for games or even bring entirely different factions (players are encouraged to keep allies or other faction participation in line with lore, narrative, and mutual fun amongst both players).
“Encouraged but not required” both players are encouraged to each bring 3 different lists to discourage repetitiveness of play. Players are also encouraged to determine before they meet to play “rock paper dakka” to determine mission types (whether that be maelstrom, altar of war or custom missions). This also is where players can determine special terrain rules (ranging from unique cover saves to board wide hazards), game types (cities of death, zone mortalis, killteam or custom game types) and list limitations (like super heavies only, flyers only, no fortifications, no formations, single cad, unbound only, etc) to help encourage a variable of different lists. These changes are determined either via die roll or gentlemen’s agreement for each 3 separate games of “rock paper dakka”.

i wanted to make a mission type like this because i have the issue of playing large and epic games with people who have small armies. it is difficult to just reach 2000 pts sometimes, so with reducing the point cost per game you allow more options for each list, have quicker games (and thus allowing both players chances for victory), and still feel like it was a large conflict that didnt require an apocalypse sized game. It’s a mini campaign of sorts.
Please let me know what you think or any ideas you might have. Id appreciate it.

500 is too much. Besides, what's preventing somebody from not tabling the opponent?

500 for what, the reinforcement rule? It's only a half of the total points you can bring to the final game. If it was 1000pts then the bonus is 500, if it was 500 points then you would receive 250. It's a boost to the player who has lost the 2 previous games and if one of those was landslide or tableing. This rule is for those who either have poor lists to counter the opponent or if the opponent just has a better dex. It symbolizes that it's the last stand and the player who has lost so far has pulled out as many reinforcements and reserves as they can. You cannot use these points to bring a imperial knight or something as cheesy.
The restrictions are that these extra points can only be spent on troop/fortifications.
