Hey guys, hope you're staying warm. I'm a decently experienced X-wing player, playing mostly with friends, but I have been to two local tournaments (And did rather well both times). There is another tournament coming up tomorrow, and I can't decide what to run. So I figured I would ask for some feedback as far as what to equip my ships with and so on.
My first tourney I ran Wedge, Luke, and Corran and took first place.
Second time I ran Latts Razzi, Talonbane, and a Cartel Marauder, and although winning 3/4 games, only managed to take 4th due to points.
Now this is my third, and a part of me really wants to give Imperials a try, since it's the faction I haven't run there yet. I need things I'm okay at running and ships I have fun with, but I just wanted some feed back.
My general idea is to run a Decimator + (Either 3-4 TIE Fighters or an Interceptor/Defender/Phantom). The only kits I don't have access to as far as cards are the Lambda Shuttle, Assault Cruiser and the new TIE/FO and T-70 pack. I like the Decimator and really want to dust it off, but I have no idea what to equip it with.
Another idea I have and would be okay with running would be Soonter/Carnor/Turr in one squad.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I've been running Rear Admiral Chiraneau & Rexler Brath with some success, but it relies too much on luck...

What do you mean? I've been theory crafting while at work, and so far Rexler and Chiraneau with a Fleet Officer seems promising.

Rear Admiral Chiraneau with Expose & Ysanne Isard, and Rexler Brath with Proton Rockets, Stealth Device & Lone Wolf.
If I'm lucky my opponent focuses on the Decimator so Brath can pick them off, but if they go for the Defender I need to be lucky. The Decimator is a sitting duck but with Expose can do some damage. Mine normally runs out of luck early on and takes crippling Criticals.

Hmm, interesting.
I also thought maybe Chiraneau with Fleet Officer + Palpatine + Predator alongside Carnor Jax with the fixins could be decent. Get Carnox near ships that rely on focus/evade, and that would seem to cripple them while Chiraneau deals a good bit of damage.

For a Decimator+Interceptor build, I like Fel and RAC. The idea is to bait with Fel in order to draw fire away from the Admiral, who's damage output is brutal. Of your opponent doesn't take the bait, you can play very aggressively with Fel and try to just kill them faster than they can kill you. The decimator inevitably goes down, but you've usually done major damage to the enemy squad in the process - a great endgame for Fel. The Decimator itself is resistant to stress mechanics, and also deals stress to enemy aces. It does have some issues with MOV, as you will almost always be giving away 33-65 points when the decimator gets damaged. The only bad matchup I've faced with this is Ten Numb Mangler (and I expect Omega Leader will be a tough one), since you really need Fel to stay alive more than a few turns. Alternatively, you could use Carnor Jax to debuff the enemy squad, so that RAC's shooting really hurts.
Rear Admiral Chiraneau (46)
Predator (3)
Gunner (5)
Rebel Captive (3)
Ysanne Isard (4)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Soontir Fel (27)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Stealth Device (3)
Royal Guard TIE (0)
Total: 100
For a Decimator+Phantom build, I like Whisper and RAC. This plays kind of different from an interceptor - you're going for raw damage output, with RAC using his supercharged shooting, and buzzsaw whisper doing her buzzsaw thing. Again, expect to lose the Decimator - but not before blowing apart a good portion of the enemy squad, leading to advantageous endgame situation for Whisper. Focus fire is good idea; Whisper's shooting can blow off shields, so that RAC's critical hits bite into hull. Be sure to nuke any PS10-11 ships first so that Whisper can survive the endgame. The 2 point initiative bid helps Whisper a lot. Alternatively, you could build a cheaper phantom and deck out the decimator with more upgrades.
Rear Admiral Chiraneau (46)
Predator (3)
Gunner (5)
"Whisper" (32)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Gunner (5)
Advanced Cloaking Device (4)
Total: 98
For an Decimator+TIE fighter build, I like Kenkirk and a miniswarm. Here you're relying on your TIE fighters to act as blockers against the enemy squadron, so that Kenkirk can get focus+predator+gunner shots against tokenless enemy ships. Kenkirk can also act as bait, drawing the enemy squad into positions where your TIE swarm can shoot them up. Oicunn might be an option here too - just really jam up the enemy squad with ships.

Commander Kenkirk (44)

I haven't played any Defender+Decimator builds. Might be fun to do a Vessery+RAC build with tractor beams. Use the tractor beam to fling enemy ships into range 1 of the Decimator, then obliterate them with a one-two punch from Vessery and Chiraneau.

Running an ace with the decimator, I like running Whisper.
Chiraneau
Expose
Moff Jerjerrod
Isaard
Intelligence Agent
Experimental interface
Whisper
VI
ACD
Rebel Captive
Whisper screams of don't shoot at me, forcing your opponent to attack the Decimator. Moff Jerjerrod can sack the agent and and himself (or Isaard too) to prevent nasty crits. Experimental interface and Expose lets you use focus/target lock every turn with expose. Make sure that once you have damage, that you don't use experimental interface until you get the free evade action in the combat round to gain expose so that you can get both.
