Now I know this topic has been done to death, but I searched around and I didn't quite find what I was looking for so I decided to post a thread.
So I found a bargain on a Space Wolves army (around $300 for $150 ) And I've had them soaking in CSC for a a couple of days. The super clean has done a pretty good job and stripped almost all of the paint off afeter some crubbing with a toothbrush, but there still little bits left in the cracks and details (mainly yellow ), and some primer remaining on the models.

What I'm wondering is should I try to go the extra mile and fully strip them to grey? Is that even possible?

I've read that dettol and isopropyl alchohol work wonders too, and will probabaly be buying myself a supersonic cleaner my next paycheck either way.... until than I would love to here some opinions from my fellow brethren.

Pick an needle and carefully (!) remove the paint from the resesses.

some primers or colors just don't get out of cracks well - if they are "loose" a bit, I would remove them - a small needle or blade would help.

If they are more like just patches of remaining color - AND did not obscure detail too much, I would just leave them.

A toothpick works very well, as it reaches into crevices and doesn't scratch detail. If you dampen it, it'll confirm to small gaps, too.

I suggest you get a panel scriber; Trumpeter do a good one. Failing that an engineer's scribing pen.

Dettol always works for me, and it seems soaking them for as long as possible helps. I recently stripped a 10 man Templar squad, forgot that I'd put them in dettol and realised after 2 weeks... The paint literally fell off of them down to the grey plastic (albeit a tad stained) and no harm to the models at all. It will weaken the glue quite a bit however. But I found this handy for stripping the paint off hard to reach areas.

I also recommend an electric cleaning brush, I picked one up off of amazon for about 3 English pounds, no clue on exchange rate but makes stripping models even easier.

I'm currently using a dettol knockoff to strip some marines. Worked fairly well on some but there are others that have been in about 24 hours and the paint is still not budging. I'm not sure if thats just because they need a bit longer or if the cheaper version of dettol doesnt have the same punch, could also be the case that non citadel paints are tougher to remove.

I'll update with my findings as I'm super new to it.
