Anyone else guilty of that?
Guilty as charged! A Zombies lifespan was so slow in 8th that there were zomboids made specifically for the back rank, primed brown with drybrushed only skin, pants, and weapons.
Also, join that FB community, it rocks my socks.
Yes, yes it does. If you only read Dakka, I could see assuming Sigmar is dead. Once you see those FB group though, that changes things a lot.
Trying to build up my Stormcasts, but going for an all character/hero army as apposed to legions of Liberators etc. Seems like others are doing similar stuff.
I just love the heroes for the Stormcast, it's just too bad that the old bank account has to suffer because of it. Those guys aren't cheap!

Fyreslayers pushed me over the edge to start a new force NOW I love dwarfs, having trouble mentally moving on from 21 years of dwarfs to an entirely new race and world, despite similarities. So I love slayers and ran a few all-slayer armies with Ungrim since AoS came out but now they have it for me and I can't resist. Painting them up in an elemental theme, reddish-black skin and fire hair, like that famous pic of Grimnir slaying Vulkatrix in the AoS source books.
Thanks for posting a thread about enjoyment of our hobby
I like dwarfs too. Haven't played a single game of AoS, but those Fyreslayers have got my interested.
Anyone know whether or not they're actually dwarfs? I keep thinking they are.

to be completely honest is started fantasy by just looking at the models... I played Brettonians. The models i saw that i loved in this army were men at arms... once i was 200 dollars into it i learned they were terrible as a "good infantry " and lacked staying power but i kept playing brettonian because i loved the entire army... Mainly for the same reason that i play imperial guard. A normal humane being, standing up against daemons, monsters, and all the forces of evil. No powers no supernatural strength just faith and courage.
PLus it was hilarious when people played against an army and got beaten by 300 peasants rallied around a few knights hahahaha

All the Emperor requires of us guardsmen is that we hold the line, and die fighting. Its what we do best. We die standing.
Orcs and Gobbos for me, still personally dislike the copyright name to "Orruks" given that its pretty damn clear they're Orcs but whatevs. I really like the new system in giving previously subpar units a new lease on life, Black Orcs are actually feared and Nob-like having 2 wounds a pop and the warscroll formation for them is ded hard. Gobbos are also even better off with the flat to hit and wound rolls.
Right now I play Dwarves only. In nearly every DnD session I played a Dwarf, because it just so fun to play as the one surly guy in a party full of adventurers. I then translated that into Fantasy when I got into it. Now that it's AOS and I can play a mixed army with zero real restrictions I'm looking to add some High or Wood Elves to my Order force.
TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Almost makes me want to change the name to "Orrkus" so I can own and copyright that name.
Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.
Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

All too true. Would be a funny way to spite GW but such is the way of company's that are way too aggressive about their IP.
Makes for good names though, Orkkus Borrkus, kinda like Biggus D-I-ckuss from monty python.

Can't argue there. In my own gaming scene experience one of the things I like most is that any army is viable (duh, but competitive players see it another way) and the models look cool on round bases, especially models we don't see much. TK, Beastmen, Brets...awesome.
Good luck with your TKs and feel free to share a pic or two when they are ready.

Seraphon because dinosaurs riding dinosaurs blasting down from the stars on blazing comets of death! That is some epic, death metal album cover shizz right there!
Also dinosaurs!
I actually find the Slaan as the sole survivors of the World-That-Was to be intriguing. Think about it. Angry, bloated, disgruntled frog-men that spend all their time alone, reminiscing about the armies they used to have and taking out their frustration on everyone else now that world has moved on.
Its almost like GW was preemptively trolling the WFB Old Guard that hate AoS so much...but that would be mean...

I haven't played since mid 8th edition and since I'm starting a new army, I'm starting with Fyreslayers. It's weird, I didn't think much of them at first glance but after looking through their battletome I found out I enjoy the fluff. So I bought the Fyreslayers novel. Now I'm sold! They are totally badass and I'm hyped to build and paint them!
No illusions that I won't be doing all the duardin factions. Glad they rolled out Fyreslayers first though. Been waiting for plastic slayers of any type for far too long.

Was Dark Elves, now it is Slaanesh Warriors. I hadn't seen what Malerion looked liked until recently and it made me wanna hold off until they get the new models out.
Undead Legions of Nagash, mixed VC and TK models. There's something about the relentless ranks of the living dead, empowered by the baleful sorceries of fell necromancers, that's I always
long boring personal hobby history:
Spoiler:
I've always been a big fan of the undead and necromancy in most fantasy games I've played, and was a huge fan of Nagash way back in the oldendays of 4th and early 5th edition Warhammer. When the VC/TK split happened and Nagash & necromancers in general took a back seat in the fluff, I kind of stepped away from warhammer. Played Wood Elves a bit in 6th and 7th, but only really came back to the game with the the 8th ed vamp counts book, which I adored.
I collected and painted up a small Von Carstein army, tracking my progress in a couple 'tale of gemers' style articles for Carpe Noctem's now-defunct webzine, but with a limited budget and schedule didn't get all that far:
I suppose it's good I didn't get too far, since I decided I didn't like the color scheme. The models were painted well enough, but the red was too bright, and the overall scheme too warm, which made the army look like they were marching to war in the noon day sun. So when rumors of Nagash's return surfaced, I sold my painted army for the funds to start a much larger, more necromantically themed Undead Legions list, which would give me a chance to try a new color scheme. Unfortunately, I had barely even begun to start painting them when rumors of Age of Sigmar dried up my local scene, and it's only now that I'm poking my head out from under the sands again.
I'm currently finishing up assembly, magnetization, and re-basing (characters and monsters only, units are staying on their ranked squares & magnetized unit trays) of a reasonably large undead host:
