Subject: [3,000] Centurio Ordinatus Army

Hello everyone! I have been considering how to make a fluff-accurate Centurio Ordinatus army given our knowledge of the upcoming and existing releases from Forge World. This army presumes that the three separate Mechanicum armies can ally. I have drawn up a relevant 3000 point list for discussion. I am considering 3 things:
1) Fluff above all: If you see a choice that you think is unfluffy, let me know and why!
2) Coherency: I want the fluff, paint scheme, models, and everything to come together to make a unified whole.
3) Efficacy: I don't want the list to fold at the first sign of an ork, either, though this may be sacrificed for both coherency and fluff.
The list follows.
Ordo Reductor Leviathan Detachment
Leviathan Lord of War
Mechanicum Ordinatus Ulator - 1075
Lord of War Detachment
Choice 1: Mechanicum Ordinatus Saggitar - 700
Choice 2: Mechanicum Ordinatus Saggitar - 700
Taghmata Omnissiah Allied Detachment
HQ
Magos Prime - 325
- Archmagos Prime
- Ordinator Arcana
- Photon Thruster (Master Crafted)
- Machinator Array
- Abeyant
- Augur Array
- Cyber Familiar
- Cyber Occularis
- Void Shield Harness
Troops
Thallax Cohort - 200
- Destructor Augment
- 3x Heavy Chainblades
- Photon Thruster

From a fluff stand point, it sure is Ordinatus (BOOOOM!)
From a gameplay stand point: you are really crippled by anything that can get a charge off (deepstriking units mainly)

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field. |

I did stick in some Deep Strike protection, including an Augur Array on the unit (to get those photon thrusters firing interceptor) and the Cyber - Occularis to give one of (preferably the relevant for firing arc) the Ordinatuses Interceptor as well.
It is worth noting too that with 14 Hull Points and an Anbaric Claw, the Ordinati aren't terribly easy to kill. They are immune to large units, since Krak Grenades can't hurt them, leaving small, expensive units to kill them, and I will get one turn of shooting with one or two Culverins per Ordinatus against most deep-striking targets, and if they are threat enough I can give them a main gun shot as well.

Aren't the two ordinatus saggitar bound by the 25% rule?

I think he circumvents that via the leviathan detachment.

Yes, they are. They're 700 points each choice, and 25% of 3000 is 750. Remember, each -choice- must be less than 25%, not the entire Lord of War detachment (as some FOCs have two choices in the one detachment, such as Onslaught or the Matrix of Ruin, or, yes, the Leviathan).

Are void shield harnesses only with the opponents approval now?
Otherwise a nice list.
Non fluffy option would be some cheap Milta allies to bubble wrap the back of the Ordiantus.

I always thought since the Ordinatus engines were borderline heretical they would send as few people with them as possible so word about how they worked and stuff didn't spread.
As far as void shield harnesses, I have not heard that - aside from the fact that everything is opponent's approval about a list.

It's in the faq that just came out. All the relics from book 4 are meant for campaign games, so require agreement to be used in one off games.

A LoW detachment is bound by the 25% rule. Thats why you wont see Perturabo and his Shadowsword ride outside of really high point games, even though its a dedicated transport it still counts as a total since it is bought as one choice. I dont know offhand if leviathan goes around this rule some how.
|
If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM! |

Yes, you can. In 3000 point games, each 'slot' is good for 750 points, as noted.
A perfectly legal Leviathan detachment is a Collegia Titanicus Ventatarii Maniple of one Reaver-class Battle Titan and a pair of Warhound-class Scout Titans for 'flank support'.
Part of me really, really wants to use the army, but the problem is balancing it to make it fun for an opponent to actually play. The titan maniple, at least, has a lot more flexibility than the Ordinatus; it can be fielded without any destroyer weapons in its armament if so inclined (from the 'lets be cool and tactical' gatling/chainfist/missile pod to the 'you're being a tool and I've had it with playing nice' laser blaster/laser blaster/turbolaser), and with the Leviathan being your scoring unit, you need to move up the field to actually take any objectives.
I think the Centurio Ordinatus looks awesome as an idea. The sight of three super-heavy artillery pieces should put the fear of god into.....well.... anyone. Don't forget, too, that per the Leviathan warlord trait, the culverins on the Ulator can fire overwatch (not sure if they can normally?) and you have tank hunter and monster hunter.
How were you planning on making the Saggitar?
I dread to think about the collateral damage if those two lists were to set up opposite one another. The ordinatus will take a couple of turns to crack the titan's void shields, because whilst they're flinging destroyer shots and can't actually miss, their dispersion shields should also keep even destroyer return fire from doing too much damage for a while; it should actually avoid the normal situation (which always bugs me) that two titans generally slag one another in two turns of fire.

Honestly, my plan for the Saggitar was to wait until Forge World dropped the model for it - they displayed CAD outlines of it at their Open Day, so it's coming.
I've started saving now though, because having enough money to get them will be a pain in the, well, rear.
