My brother and I are soon gonna have our first game against each other after a few months of planning our armies and collecting models, with 900pts for each of us.

My army is made up of 1 primary detachment, the purge. leading my army is necrosius the undying attached to a group of plague zombies, 4 units of 5 plague marines (each with 1 flamer and 1 plasma rifle), and a single helbrute with dual heavy flamers. probably not a terribly great idea to have no ranged weapons on the helbrute, but my intention is to get him as close as possible as fast as possible to unleash murder on whatever group I can get to.

My brother's army consists of 2 formations. His primary formation, the holy requisitioner, is a techpriest dominus accompanied by 2 units of 3 kataphron breachers, we're not sure of what upgrades he's gonna give them just yet. His next formation is the skitarii maniple, with 2 units of 5 rangers (one with a transuranic arquebus and one with arc rifles), and a unit of 5 sicarian infiltrators.

We're just waiting on his breachers and my plague marines to arrive. Sadly I could only obtain a single box of plague marines, so the units in my current army are gonna be supplemented by cultist models as proxies.

I feel like my dudes are gonna get their socks rocked, but it's gonna be a fun learning experience. Can't wait to cover the land in chemical DEATH.

Also our models aren't painted yet...But getting everything for that is gonna be for another month lol.

Forgot to add, we haven't decided on any gametype or objective stuff just yet, still determining what we're gonna do. Deployment will likely be thunder and anvil.

Good on yah. Don't worry too much about winning, just get the rules down.
Most importantly, have fun.

It's fully within the rules for me to look up your Facebook page, find out your dear Mother Gladys is single, take her on a lovely date, and tell you all the details of our hot, sweaty, animal sex during your psychic phase.
I mean, fifty bucks is on the line.
There's no rule that says I can't.
Hive Fleet Hercual - 6760pts
Hazaak Dynasty - 3400 pts
Seraphon - 4600pts

Proxies are also a great way to help learn. Play with the models before investing in.

And above all else: focus first on having fun, then learning the rules.

Yeah proxies are gonna be a thing for us for awhile.

But i'm hellbent on getting at least 1 or 2 more boxes of plague marines, those things are a MUST for me.

Good luck and have fun!

PS if it was me, I'd be inclined to ditch those flamers in favour of another plasma gun or melta gun if you have the points. Flamers are best against poorly armoured hordes...

I want to use the flamers as the purge detachment gives them shred. Also I can't really fit much else as im at exactly 900 points with all that i have.

This sounds awesome. I am glad you guys are talking out armies ahead of time - it will give each of you an opportunity to address elements you find unfun and will also allow for better development into the future I believe.

Don't forget his Kataphron Breachers are toughness 5, so you'll be struggling to wound them at range with anything other than the 4 plasma guns in your army, that are spread between all 4 of your units. You don't really want to be having to shoot all your units at just one of his, just so you've got a chance of taking it down!

The flamers should do OK against the Skiitari with their T3. I'd consider at least grouping the weapons together. You could have, for instance, two units of PMs with plasma guns and two with flamers. Or maybe one unit of plasma guns, one of flamers, and two of meltaguns. Then you've got units that are each specialised for dealing with a particular type of threat. 'Jack of all trades, master of none' very much applies!

That sounds like a pretty good idea actually, I think I will do that.
