I just thought this would be a neat little thing to try out. Everybody has those one or two units that they utterly despise (or maybe you despise everything ), but perhaps this thread will bring some perspective to how things could be worse. Let's just pray that no rulebook writers find this thread and take it seriously.

The idea of this thread is to give a unit (overpowered or underpowered) just one or two additional special rules or minor modifications that will render it the auto-include of auto-includes. Here are a couple ideas that I can think of:

-Wraithguard D-flamers now have Torrent (I SEE YOU HIDING IN THAT CORNER, TANK SQUADRON. YOU CANNOT HIDE).
-Deathstrike missile launchers are now Strength D (maybe this isn't super unreasonable, but hey, it'd be hella strong).
-Upgrades to skimmers for rerollable jink (for 10-15 points, nonetheless!).

Remember, we're not actually implementing any of this, so have fun with it. The challenge here is to-- hypothetically-- make something gloriously cheesy with minimal changes. What crazy gak can you guys think of?

Give Kharn Fleshmetal Armor and Eternal Warrior. Watch as even titans will do everything they can to get the hell away from him.

Allow Daemons (this includes Khorne Daemonkin) to assault out of Deepstrike. Again, watch the pain.

Every Tyranid MC other than the Hive Tyrant and Carnifex into a Gargantuan Creature. Suddenly Wraithknights are the least of our problems.

Also for the nids; have Synapse grant Eternal Warrior. Warriors and rippers will suddenly be useful again (if not outright broken) and all the MCs would be an ass to kill. Zoanthropes would be broken and completely untouchable.

Give Necron Destroyers their Jetbike status back. Tau would wish they had it this good.

Obliterators gets to use all the weapons in the chaos ranged weapons list and get back their S and T5. No one would ever buy any other HS choice.

Daemon Prince get back their full suite of Daemonic Gifts. Flying Circus would be hilarious for you, painfully awful for everyone else.

Most of these are based on stuff the units had in the past. The reason they weren't that OP before (with the exception of the Daemon Prince and Obliterator) is because they didn't have a lot of the new rules they have now to compensate for the change. For example Necron Destroyers didn't have their own formation and didn't have 2 wounds back then.

Every time a Chaos Boon is rolled either for a model in Codex: Chaos Space Marines, or a model affected by Boon of Mutation, it affects the entire unit.

Watch as a unit of Chaos Cultists rolls a 66, and becomes 30 Daemon Princes! Or becomes an entire unit of Spawn.

Necron Reanimation Protocols can be modified past a 4+ and can be taken against D-weapons now.

The Transcendant C'tan becomes it's old GC iteration, with the old powers.

Doomsday Arks are now Strength D Apocalyptic Blasts with Ignores Cover, Fleshbane, Armorbane, Lance, Melta, Primary Weapon, and Instant Death.

Warscythes Ignore Invulnerable saves.

Mindshackle Scarabs require a Leadership test at -2 on 3D6. If failed, target attacks themselves 1D6 times with no saves of any kind allowed.

Tesla generates an additional, automatic hit on a 3+, including on Snapshots.

Because this game is fun, guys.

Hmm....

All Tau weapons become strength D if the target has exactly four markerlights on it - not one more or less though!

Imperial Guard tanks have unlimited HP and therefore cannot be glanced to death

Eldar Wraithknights may fire six times if they do not move (bye bye everyone)

Ogryns become S8 T7

This isn't exactly what I had in mind. Here you just gave Doomsday every special rule under the sun. If you had to do, say, Primary Weapon with Str D or Apoc Blast or Ignores Cover or Fleshbane/Armorbane combo or Lance or Melta or ID, which combination would do it best? If you gave anything in the game that set of special rules, it'd be unbelievably broken. How would you break the Doomsday Ark with minimal changes and still have it be it's own, unique beast?

I was mainly goofing off. But, in order to make the Doomsday Ark actually feel like it should feel by fluff standards, I would just say Strength D Apocalyptic Blast. Obviously make it more expensive, but it keeps getting more tame as people are receiving D-missiles and the Imperial has access to Ignores Cover S10 Massive blasts and all that. Doesn't feel as devastating, really.

Into the Fray! - Assault Terminators may charge and assault on the turn they enter play via deep strike.

Unstoppable Rampage - If a unit of Assault Terminators destroys the unit it is in combat with on their player's turn AND they did not charge into combat this player turn, they may charge another nearby unit and resolve that combat as well. Characters in this unit cannot issue or accept challenges in that second combat.

Such is the Genius of the Codex Astartes! - Once per game, a special character and his unit with the Unstoppable Rampage special rule may carry out the Unstoppable Rampage action if combat is resolved in the enemy player's turn, as though it were heir own player's turn. The character may issue and accept challenges during any Unstoppable Rampage action.

Honestly, for those points, they should.
They're only marginally cheaper than terminators (because the sorceror is just too bloody expensive) and terminators are bad in their own right..

Vulture gunship gains STR D and ignore cover for its punisher cannons. ~18-19 D-weapon hits every turn should deal with anything you want to kill.

I'm going to work on the assumption that everything is in perfect balance(!) and even small changes throw things out of whack .

More of a way to OP melee things against space marines but:
If you sweep a unit with ATSKNF then you count as charging the next close combat phase. I'm pretty sure this was even a thing in 3rd.

Walkers get the 'smash' rule by default. Sentinels become surprisingly nasty in melee!

Daemonic possession now also gives the vehicle the Daemon special rule (a chance the enemy is swinging at WS1 and a 5++ for when no cover is available)... hmm I guess that's not so OP afterall. Lets also open this upgrade to helbrutes too.
