Has anyone used one of these? I absolutely love the idea of them, it seems so night lords esque! but considering how expensive it is I sort of want opinions on it before I buy it! Thanks

I think you hit it on the head- it's so expensive money wise, no one uses it.

Points-wise, at over 200+ points, you are straying into Land Raider, Fire Raptor, Spartan Tank territory. AV12 all around and 5 HP give it some durability. A flyer with hover rules gives it Jink, so that would improve it's survival chances a bit. The guns are situated in such a way that only three, will ever be able to make shots on the ground. While flying... I have no idea how you would establish the fire arcs of those guns. They are not listed as turrets, so hull mounted? In which case... you'll be lucky if two can hit the same target. The fire sweep ability is very cool.

Fielding multiples (at least two) seems to be the only way to effectively use them in a game.

Basically, there are other options for flyers and troop transportation at this points level. It lacks the durability of the tank transports, and the fire power of the flyers. A minimum of two would be required to really be effective. It's also a HUGE model.

You could always modify a regular drop pod and ask your friends if you can use it as the Kharybdiss Assault Claw, and if you like it enough, buy it (that £155 is a hefty price...).

Don't forget, they can be taken as a dedicated transport for Leviathan dreads. They're currently something I am debating on getting...

I love mine, and for a big game the other day I had 10 terror squad marines, Kurze, Sevetar, apothecary, legion champion all inside one. Was fun.

I like them as they can act as a reusable transport in a drop pod themed army. I have two of them I use in larger games and I normally use them to transport large tactical squads, the retro burn attack helps clear a landing site for them.
