After reading Angel Exterminatus I've decided that I want to build Perturabo's Iron Circle. Problem is, I don't think there were any descriptions of their appearance. Does anyone know what they looked like (apart from obviously being big robots), and what would be a good proxy for them? Also, will FW make any models or rules for them...?

Any answers would be much appreciated.

Well, Perturabo will need to be able to actually join the squad so the CC version of thallax are the best equivalent I can think of offhand. Castellax seem like better analougs but then Perturabo can't join.

Why can't Perturabo join?

They are monstrous creatures. Only pravians and tech priest dominus from the legio cybernetica can do that.

Highly unlikely Forgeworld will create rules and models for them. At best, you can hope for him getting the option to take some Castellax as a unit he can join, but from a game balance standpoint, that's a bad idea.

Doesn't Perturabo have a cortex controller? so, in thoery, you could run it, couldn't you?

Cortex Controller allows you to take Automata in your army and allows the model with a cortex controller to work his mojo from upto 12" away... but its a separate rule that allows those other units to join a squad of Monstrous creatures.... if I understand it correctly

I thought that the Iron Circle was made up of Colossus robots, which happen to have just aquired a model in the form of the Domitar from forgeworld (check out the news and rumours thread, the most recent pictures). Of course, Perturabo couldn't actually join the squad, but he could stand reeeally clase by and use the cortex contoller in his armour.

Failing that, the ursarax are probably your best bet.

Circle robots are coming, no rules as of yet but we have pics (go to the forgeworld thread to see them)

Well, I stand corrected, Forgeworld are making them. Certainly look cool. I still, however, hope that Perturabo can't actually join a unit of them (unless it's an incredibly small unit), for balance reasons. It's hard enough to shoot down a Primarch when they just have a bodyguard of T4 dudes in terminator armor, but if he had a bodyguard of Castellax equivalents? Ouch.

That'd depend entirely on how much they cost, though. I mean if they're like 120 ppm you're looking at a nearly 800 point death-star for him and just two or three models that moves 6'' a turn...

I am pretty sure he can based off the rules posted in the N&R page on the FW thread. Seems beastly.

Hmm... Weird, it's working for me. Dang, sorry guys. Well the gist of it is that they are 205 points a piece, t7\s7\4w\i3, get d3 HoW, have at innitiative TH that get extra hits for every 6, have Heavy 5 pinning HB, and best of all can be joined by a single IW IC, including Perturabo. 

EDIT: Oh, and they have a 3+\5++ that becomes a 3+\4++ Hardened armor when two or more are B2B. And, you can take four as Perturabo's personal Bogygaurd, and they get to have either +1 WS, +1LD, +1 I or 6+ FNP if you do but they have to join him.

Iron Circle can be joined by Pertrabo, with bonuses. Or...they can be joined by any Iron Warriors IC

Man, Perty's gonna be so hard to kill with these tanking wounds for him. Would make a fluffy deathstar unit, I suppose.

Or, you can put him in front for anything AP3+, and then Look out Sir! anything else .

for him to join the group it has to be a 4 model unit minimum, making his death star ~1,200 points? Fluffy, yes. but I'm not to worried about seeing it outside of apoc. games

No, the 4 man unit is just for the free upgraded stat. A unit of 1+ can be joined by him, based on the images, which I'mma link in the leaks thread in a sec here.

Yeah he can join a single-model unit, but they take up an Elite slot in that case and don't get the special bonuses the 4-man bodyguard would.

I'm ok with that though. Very tempted to buy two and have just run the deathstar to scare people off of objectives.

Would they be transportable in Tormentor?

Oh and while I have a captive audience, which HH Black Library novel do you guys recommend for getting a sense of Perturabo and the Iron Circle?

Angel Exterminatus focuses on perturabo and Fulgrim and theres some Iron circle action in there !
