48 hours in Simple Green, not one fleck of missing paint. 24 hours now in Purple Power. Nothing coming off. Tried scrubbing with a soft bristle toothbrush and still nothing is coming off.

Any ideas for GW plastic space marine AP primer removal? HELP!!

Purple power. though it is having some trouble with primer atm.

90+ % iso alcohol takes basically anything off. (less of a pain to deal with after too compared to break fluid (though it does work too))

I put a rhino in brake fluid for about 16 hrs. It made a dent, but only with a steel wire brush after the soak.

Hmmmm. Someone else said the same thing about brake fluid and AP Primer (doesn't work either). I have a mini in some now though to try it.

Is Iso safe on GW plastic?

Yeah i noticed it kinda changes the texture of resin a bit. kinda brittle. but only if you soak it for a while. like overnight. otherwise 5 minutes wont do anything.

AP primer is one of the hardest to get off. You need to scrub and scrub and scrub. Where it's a deep recess (like the vents from a pipe), you'll never get it out unless you pick at it with an awl. Even so, AP primer permanently stains the plastic, meaning that once you remove all the layers of paint, the plastic will still be discolored.

That's not really an issue though, because the next layer of paint will cover it.

Plus a rank smell added to stop you drinking it. Smells like rancid cat's pee.

24 hours of brake fluid and some of the primer has come off. Its still covering the mini but its a lighter shade. Gonna leave til tomorrow and see.

If you can find it, Dawn power degreaser was the only thing that worked on some ridiculously painted terminators a couple years ago. I had to buy it online, could not find it anywhere local.

It wasn't Ap primer, but these models must have been undercoated at least 100 times. glossy laquer paint. just terrible. Now they're fully painted and you'd never know.

Even with brake fluid, you'll need to give it a scrub with an old toothbrush.

I've had it strip car primer off metals and plastic figures after 30 minutes and a scrub.

48 hours of DOT3 brake fluid and all of the paint is sitting at the bottom of the glass. Every nook and cranny is completely down to plastic.

No scrubbing at all.

Don't touch the brake fluid, don't pour it dowm the sink.

Dang, 3 days of solid soaking? Dont think i'll do that. When i soaked my rino, it soften the plastic a little.

Maybe try a dunk in LA's Totally Awesome? Can be found in most dollar stores. If you can have the soaked item sit on a window sill, the heat just makes the solution a paint and primer stripping machine. Was able to save some old models with huge gobs of paint and primer applied.
