Before I begin, I admit I had no idea which forum I should have posted this question, so I heartily apologize if I didn't get it right, I figured I'd post in general discussion to be safe. If a moderator moves it to it's correct home, I politely ask if you could inbox me where I can find. Thank you in advance.
Alrighty guys. Recently, I decided I was gonna collect bloodletters. A few weeks ago, I bought two units of them and then a couple weeks ago, I couldn't have my local gaming store order more because they were under repackaging. I figured they were coming out with some new sculpts or something, but I got the newly repackaged Bloodletters today and.....their bases are a bit bigger than before, and I have no idea why. Did I miss something? Because as far as I know, tabletop wise, bloodletters are medium sized models. Unless we're getting a new codex, I can't understand why their bases changed so much. Maybe all "medium" sized models have bigger bases now? Do I have to get these new bases for my other 20 bloodletters, who are now glued on old and smaller bases for them to be legal? If anybody could share some info with me, I'd appreciate it very much. Thank you kindly.

They're legal with the bases they came with. You could definitely update them to the new bases if you want (assuming new is the 32mm base)

I have to wonder if all these models getting new base sizes is just a ploy to get people to buy new bases for their minis. I recently rebased a lot of my Space Marines so that they would match any new kits I will buy in the future, so I guess it's working.

Sounds like a stealth buff to bloodletters. Cause with bigger bases you can fit less under a blast template maybe?

Or you can just keep buying chaos everything, and not play them. Just sit alone in your room for years, painting and detailing, and detailing some more. Then keep doing that for years until you own upwards of 10000 points of chaos. Keep shining their swords and sharpening their knives. Then some day, some wonderful day, when a new book comes out that will realize your armies' potential, come out from hiding. Everyone will have thought you had left warhammer 40k for good, but no, you had been training, preparing, and brooding for this moment. Return with such vengeance and hatred that you will not hold back, and you will destroy everything in your path. Like a true chaos crusade, wait for the right moment, then burst forth from the Eye of Terror and unleash your pain on the whole universe. And when they cry and complain that you are OP and that it's not fair. Reassure them that it's true. It isn't fair, but it's what they DESERVE. All of them, each and every one of them deserve to be obliterated into oblivion. And if they ask you to play with a fluffy army, tell them you will do so. But on game day bring the meanest nastiest, ugliest army you can. Give them no opportunity for victory, give them no opportunity for enjoyment. Your only goal is to inflict as much pain and suffering as possible. And when they cry, and they will cry, laugh at them, drink their salty tears, and bath in their sweet, sweet blood.

Blasts already sucked when they were on the 25's... Spacing out models to limit blast markers is/was easy.
The shift to 32's is actually a nerf to assault based units, as they now have a much bigger unit footprint on the table, are much harder to Deep Strike into play, (which is a huge part of how Daemons in general play!), and will lose more distance to Overwatch casualties.

Bloodletters probably isn't getting an update, GW just has been updating bases across the board. It's been happening for a while now (most SMs are getting repackaged with the new bases).
The official reason is that the old sculpts often hang on the side of the bases (like their feet are just off the edge, most noticable with tactical marines) so the new 32mms help with that. And truth to be told, those models do look better on a 32mm base.
However a few people think this is to cut down on the secondary scenic base market, since they've become accustomed to making 25mm bases and more often than not for cheaper than GW's basic bases. However the fact that this may cause people to rebase their entire armies was probably a side effect, as GW didn't actually start selling these bases separately until long after their introduction (especially the big packs, which if they really intended for mass rebasing, they should have came out with it immediately)

Bloodletters were reboxed for Age of Sigmar. There should no longer be square bases in the box.

Space Marines and similar sized models really do look about 1000x better on the 32's, that's for sure!
I've been contemplating for a couple months now expanding my handful of Bloodletters & Hounds into a Khornekin force, and if/when I do, I'll definitely buy up some new 32's & re-base my 'Letters.
Will also help them look & balance a whole feth of a lot better too, since I converted my Bloodletters by chopping up Beastigors at the waistline, and then sticking the 'Letter torso on top... Makes them actually stand a little taller than Marines, and really helps bulk them out too! (plus I've always been of the opinion that 'Letters should be semi-armoured being Khornate foot soldiers and all! )

Ah, ok. Thanks everybody, I guess I'll rebase my armies. I do admit it's gonna be a pain, but it'll probably be worth it. Bloodletters with the Banner of Blood just can't stand on 25mm so I hope the 32mm will help.

Your old Blood Letters don't need to be rebased if you don't want to, and you are free to base the new ones on 25mms.
I personally stick to the old bases whenever possible, but that's because I have an OCD about such things (I once went through a 4000 piece lego set turning all the pins straight up because I couldn't stand it).
It's perfectly legal to have some blood letters on 25mms and 32mms. However they do indeed look better on 32mms.

I will probably rebase my Daemonkin models, as I haven't done their bases yet so I won't lose any real work. As mentioned above Bloodletters will stand up easier on bigger bases, and so will my Raptors and Warp Talons.
