I really think your posing is one of your strengths. Obviously your painting and weathering skills are top notch but you really seem to have a flair for a dynamic pose.

Awesome stuff man. That Minotaur is fantastic.

Also where is that icon on the Exorcist backpack from? Super metal I love it.

Cheers! I have tried to put a lot of thought into the composition of these guys, I've been a little limited as most of them were built ages ago so I've had to pull them apart and rebuild them as best I can in more interesting poses, but I think it's paying off.

That icon is from the Warhammer Empire State Troops kit, been wanting to use it on a Marine for ages, just needed a Chapter it worked for.

Wanted really beat-up armour here, which I think I achieved, mostly done with washes and drybrushes.

As ever, thanks for looking! Any thoughts welcome!

Love the job you've done on them. They look like they are straight from the battle field. Dark, gritty, dirty and battle worn. Really nice to see some of the lesser well known chapters too.

Awesome sauce!

What did you use for the base colour for the Excorcist's marine? That is a really nice dark red.

Cheers. The Exorcists's armor is basically blended up from near-black, the mix is varying amounts of Mephiston Red, Abbadon Black and a tiny bit of Vallejo Dark Earth thrown in in the lighter layers.

Another Marine added to the collection today, a Lamenter:

Ta for looking! Let me know what you think!

YES!!!!!!!!!! I love the Lamenters. They are a really tricky chapter to paint right and that looks bloody brilliant. Love the dirty mustard colour of the armour and that checkered shoulder pad is just stunning. I would love to see you also do a Flesh Tearer marine. Their colour scheme is ideal for your dark and gritty look.

Cheers guys!

No Flesh Tearers planned in the immediate future, still got half a dozen Badab War Chapters to cover for this current project and then some snazzy new Deathwatch... But once I get off my backside and get around to stripping a whole bunch of old minis when I'm next home, I should have access to a frankly inordinate amount of Marines if all goes according to plan, and FT are a cool Chapter so I will probably one or two get painted at some point...

And Mantis Warrior:

Which gives me a full complement of Badab secessionist Chapters:

As ever, any thoughts, feedback, comments and votes are most welcome!

Amazing, Para! I would love to see a whole army of these. Very clever use of the Empire bit on the backpack too. Great work

Freaking awesome. I love the hawks. Shapeways makes firehawks pads just so ya know =] I would love to see a full army. I have a lot of painting to do and would love a tutorial on these. Ive got something like 60x assault marines and 35x bikes to do and I love this look. The firehawks get a thunderhawk, 4x Talons 3x Fire raptors and a skyhammer formation. This years painting project. hah
