30 models or less, even I can make that by end of April.

The battleplan looks like the school league one. Might be interesting, anyone played it much? I know Bottle has mentioned it a few times.

It's ever so slightly different to the school league one, but not by much :-)

Yeah, I have played it, and it is really fun in my opinion. I started to feel a little bit restricted by 30 models in the end so I've switched back to regular AoS for pick up games in GW.

I wonder as it's at Warhammer World and looks like tournament, how crazy the lists are going to get?

Nagash + a Corspe Cart + a few Necromancers and 15 Zombie Dragons/Terrorgiests in reserve for example (to get the underdog bonuses), or just straight up 30 Blood Thirsters...

Matt are you going to this one?

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I was just trying to work out how far you can go. Most of the the Victory conditions only allow for about 8 points total over the game. The underdog, however, could earn more than that by getting a couple of his objectives if he is major underdog.

Nagash + 15 dragons isn't that useful - at least 7 dragons, and maybe more never make it to the table. Unless I miss something he can cast a lot of magic, but still only each spell once. So at best he gets 4 summon dragons. Good chance of 1 failing, another being dispelled. Risky strategy. Nagash and 15 different unit types(hence spells) maybe! But only 2 models on table could mean giving up victory points for a few turns with little time to pull it back.

Interesting at first glance.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Have to think about this. It is probably the first one I can actually make. Should have a (non competitive) force ready, be able to book it with wife etc. The event blurb does try to emphasis it isn't competitive, but playing that scenario 6 times feels more like a tourney which is putting me off. If it was more local I'd probably give it a go, but can't decide whether a weekend away and the expense would be worth the risk.

So... if they are still using the 'number of models' as a limit does that mean that it is working or have GW just not come up with anything better?

Iirc the last one of these had a guy who brought a slayer army but was running each one as a hero. That sounds like the kind of thing I usually hear people simply say 'don't play that guy' to...

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Might well do - some of the guys here have expressed an interest...

You kinda have to read the event pack The ultimate limit is on models, but there is a balancing system underlying that.

Well, first off, this is a tournament, whichever way you look at it, the first GW has run for AoS. Expectations will be different. Second, an all Hero army (or all monster, or whatever) is going to have every chance of being stuffed under the victory conditions.

I am currently thinking of basing an army around a Slann Starmaster and an Eternity Starhost... though I may do something completely different to Seraphon by the time it rolls around.

This will be their 5th event/tournament for AoS.

Winning the games means nothing and the tournament is won by having the most votes for the best game. So if you want to bring some cheesy army or bad attitude you will get zero votes and not win the event.

Can it even count as a tournament if the prize is not determined by who actually won the contests?

I'm legitimately curious, the google definition just lists it as people competing for an overall prize. It seems vague to me but if winning the games is not how you earn the prize then I'd say you are not competing for the prize, you are just playing games and then a prize is given to someone picked by the vote.

The last ones were a mix; game results, best player votes, best painted army votes.

So there's three ways to 'score': win in a game, be the best opponent, have the best painted army. Whoever has the highest combined 'score' wins the competition.

Where have they said this? I haven't seen what awards are being given for this event yet...

It's the same as all their previous ones.

@broxus pretty sure you are speaking to the winner of Throne of Skulls for AoS this year, who won because he had scored more victories than his fellows with equal best game votes :-p

@puree yeah I edited it to include some summoners and mix the zombie dragons with terrorgeists, to allow them to summon more :-p

I think it would be a fun topic to see what we can push to the max, especially with trying to keep the overall wounds as low as possible to maximize underdog bonuses :-)
